Tia was waging a war to wipe off the human race from the face of the planet. After first seeming to have the upper hand, Ryn startled Tia by unleashing an even larger army.

It was a violent, brutal, and intense conflict that began. Ryn and her team ultimately prevailed over Tia, who was eventually slain. The other mermaids showed their love for Ryn when she died and her body fell to the bottom of the ocean.

This allowed Ben to infiltrate Tia’s undersea jail as well, taking advantage of the war In the end, he was the one who saved Hope and got her to safety. However, it was not without incident, as he was apprehended by mer-guards. Final views of Ben floating in water show him trying to fight his way out.

Ben’s disappearance is anticipated to be solved in Season 4. It is also possible that Ryn is guiding the merpeople and humans in mending the damage done during the conflict.
