Akane Shimizu’s Manga series, Cells at Work!, is a popular one in Japan. These anthropomorphized human body cells, the red and white blood cells, star in their own storey. Kodansha’s Monthly Shnen Sirius published it from January 2015 to January 2021. It has been licenced for North American release by Kodansha USA.
On February 27, 2021, an Anime television series by David Production has aired two seasons and 21 half-hour episodes. The title of a future anime theatrical performance is “Hataraku Saib!!” Cells at Work!, an anime adaptation of the spin-off series, will premiere at Karada no Naka in September of 2020. Episode one of Code Black will premiere in the first week of January 2021, according to the network.

Cells at Work! is the debut collection of short tales and pictures by Akane Shimizu. Manga magazine Monthly Shnen Sirius published it every January from January 26, 2015, till January 26, 2021. The manga has been collected into five tankbon volumes by Kodansha as of August 2017.
On March 21st, 2016, Kodansha USA was given North American rights to Cells at Work! In Taiwan, the manga was licenced by Tong Li Publishing as well. Kodansha USA has also licenced Cells at Work! Keeping a close eye on everything. Five other spin-offs have also been licenced, including Bacteria!, Cells at Work: Baby!, and Cells at Work: Platelets. The final episode of Cells at Work!: Bacteria! will air on July 3, 2020. It will begin serialisation on the Palcy manga app in February 2021 with a followup story called Cells at Work. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria known as Neo Bacteria.
It was revealed in September 2017 that Moe Sugimoto will write a spin-off called Cells NOT at Operate! about red blood cells (erythroblasts) that refuse to function. The last chapter was released on November 26th, 2021.
This is a spin-off of the manga, Cells at Work! A “dark” world formed by an individual’s terrible choices in life is the setting for the comic book Code Dark, which began running on Weekly Morning on June 7th, 2018. The manga’s illustrations and editorial oversight are the work of Issei Hatsuyoshi and Shimizu.
At work and with pals!, a Killer T Cell who is usually strict with himself and others chooses to relax a little. To meet new people, he’d like to do so, but he’s scared of creating enemies in the process. Friend Bessatsu aired its first episode on January 12th, 2019. It was drawn and written by Kanna Kurono and Mio Izumi, respectively. As of the 13th day of April in the year 2021, the project has come to an end.
Platelets, a new series based on the platelet characters from Cells at Work!, is now streaming on Netflix. The manga, written and illustrated by Kanna Kurono and released by the publisher on May 25th, will be published in the June 2019 edition of Monthly Shnen Sirius. It came to an end on April 26, 2021.
An illustrated spin-off series on the cells within a baby’s body at 40 weeks after conception, Cells at Work!: Baby!, premiered in the 45th issue of Weekly Morning on October 17, 2019. It ended on October 7, 2021.
Lady! is a spin-off series of Cells at Work! that examines the cells of an adult female’s body in greater detail. In Monthly Morning Two’s March issue, a storey written by Harada and illustrated by Akari Otokawa was published on January 22, 2020.
Cells at Work is a new spin-off series that focuses on white blood cells! Tetsuji Kanie’s White Brigade was first published in Monthly Shnen Sirius in December of that year.
Another spin-off series, Cells at Work!, has been announced. The serialisation of Kae Hashimoto’s Illegal will begin on February 1, 2022, on Kodansha’s Young Magazine Web platform.

Cells At Work Anime
An anime television series adaptation was announced in January of this year. Collaborations between Takahiko Yoshida, director and producer Kenichi Suzuki, and David Production, the film’s animator, were born out of the duo’s brainstorming. The series’ music was composed by Kenichiro Suehiro and MAYUKO. The first episode of the anime series premiered on July 8th, 2018, on Tokyo MX and other networks.
In total, there were thirteen separate episodes. Crunchyroll licenced the series to Aniplex of America in North America, who began streaming it in real time. On AnimeLab in both Australia and New Zealand, the show was broadcast in both countries by Madman Entertainment. The show was shown on Animax Asia in Southeast Asia and South Asia by Muse Communication, which acquired the rights to it. MVM Entertainment obtained the rights to distribute the show in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
“Mission! Health Comes First” by Kana Hanazawa is the Japanese opening theme, while “CheerS” by ClariS is the English version. A special episode broadcast on December 27th, 2018. The English dub, produced by Aniplex of America, was released on DVD on August 27th, 2019.
It was formally revealed on Twitter on March 23rd, 2019, that the programme would be returning for a second season.
From January 9 until February 27, 2021, the second season was televised. [85] In season two, only director Kenichi Suzuki will be replaced by director Hirofumi Ogura, the core crew of David Production. Main cast members yell “Go, Go, Saibo Festa!” as ClariS sings “Fight!!” at the finale. A live-action anime film with the working title Hataraku Saib!! will be released soon.
Saikyō no Teki, Futatabi. Karada no Naka wa “Cho” sawagisecond !’s season premiered as an early screening of episodes 4–8 on July 4, 2020. Short cartoon “Kesshouban: Eigakan e Iku” is also shown. Hirofumi Ogura took over as director for this film’s production after director Kenichi Suzuki stepped down, although the rest of the David Production team stayed. It will make its premiere on September 5th, 2020.

A light novel adaptation of the manga Shsetsu Hataraku Saibo was released by Kodansha on July 12, 2018. It was written and drawn by Akane Shimizu and Yui Tokiumi.

An adaptation for the stage, titled Tainai Katsugeki Hataraku Saib, was revealed in Kodansha’s Monthly Shnen Sirius magazine’s August issue.
The drama was performed at Tokyo’s Theatre 1010 from November 16 and 25, 2018. In the performance directed by Tsuyoshi Kida and scripted by Keita Kawajiri, Masanari Wada portrayed U-1146 and Kanon Nanaki played AE3803. Cells At Work Reception
According to Rebecca Silverman of the Anime News Network, despite the manga’s presentational flaws, it nevertheless had educational value and was a pleasurable read because of the manga’s compelling characters.
Shockingly funny and bizarre,’ Sean Gaffney of Manga Bookshelf said in his review. According to Anime UK News writer Ian Wolf, who gave the British Blu-ray edition of the anime “the most gory program on television since it includes so many blood cells as characters and therefore has more blood than program depicting much violence,”

It was included in Paul Gravett’s October 2016 list of the “Top 22 Comics, Graphic Novels & Manga.” As of July 2017, more than 1.3 million copies of the manga had been printed. More than 1.5 million copies of the manga were in circulation in January 2018.
Dr. Satoru Otsuka, a postdoctoral researcher at Emory University School of Medicine, praised the show’s portrayal of cancer cells in the seventh episode. Teachers at a Chinese high school affiliated with China’s Southwest University assigned it to their students as homework because they were amazed by how precise it was.
