The All-American offensive Tackle could be a 1st round target for the Denver Broncos.
This draft is filled with high-level offensive line talent with many being projected-day one picks come draft day, with some analysts projecting as many as eight tackles being taken. One of these tackles is Olumuyiwa Fashanu from Penn State. Although there is a very high chance that the Broncos take a quarterback in the first round, let’s take a look at some of their other options.
And while Fashanu is predominantly thought to be a top-10 pick, there’s a small chance he can fall to Denver at 12th overall. If he is there, should the Denver Broncos draft a tackle? Let’s take a look at what he brings to the table and the situation that Denver might be in.

What other analysts are saying about Texas tight end Olumuyiwa Fashanu

You won’t find a pass-blocking metric Fashanu isn’t near the top of. Over the last two years, he has earned an 89.3 pass-blocking grade and didn’t allow a single sack across 646 snaps.
While he has a ways to go to develop his run blocking, Fashanu should make an immediate impact in an NFL team’s passing game.
Does offensive tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu make sense for the Broncos on day one of the draft?
This draft pick only makes sense if the Broncos decide to not draft a quarterback and if they move on from Garett Bolles. Two very big “if’s”. In reality there is little chance that the Broncos look to address the offensive tackle position, or any offensive line position, in the first round. They may have needs at tackle and center, but those both can be addressed even into the late day three rounds. And as of now, there is no pressing need to draft a starting-caliber tackle this year, assuming they’re planning on keeping Bolles. There will be a need in a year or two, but it would be better if the Broncos addressed center first.
And of course, this would all be contingent on the Broncos passing on a quarterback, which has a very small chance of happening. Even if they choose to target another position, an edge rusher takes priority.
Drafting Olumuyiwa Fashanu on day one of the draft does not make sense for the Broncos.
