Broncos fans have every right to celebrate Drew Lock in win over Carolina

It feels good to win, doesn’t it?

On Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, Denver quarterback Drew Lock completed 21 of 27 passes for 280 yards with 0 interceptions and an overall quarterback rating of 149.5.

That ought to quiet the Lock haters, right?

If you put 10 dedicated fans in a locked room and ask them their thoughts about Drew Lock and the Denver Broncos, without a doubt candor would quickly devolve into a shouting match over the young quarterback needing more time versus fans who believe they have already seen enough.

The truth is somewhere in the middle. Sunday’s game was a triumph for Drew Lock. It feels terrific to watch him dropping bombs to K.J. Hamler. Was it the signature statement game that some proclaimed? Let’s reserve that designation for when he repeats Sunday’s feat against a playoff-caliber contender.

We should all celebrate the game that Drew Lock turned in against the Panthers. His vision for open receivers, no interceptions, and Lock’s mechanics were all encouraging signs of growth. His ability to execute the short passing game opened up the opportunities downfield that Broncos Country has longed for all season.

Three games remain this season and, realistically, there’s no reason the Broncos shouldn’t win at least two of them. Heck, if Lock and the Broncos knock of a red-hot Buffalo team this Saturday, Broncos fans could very well get the statement win that we have been thirsting for.

Stay tuned. This could get interesting.
