The Broncos lost to Cleveland for the first time since Oct. 1990 and it all but ends the season. That’s not all that needs to end.

History was made. Again.

For the first time since Oct. 1990, the Cleveland Browns beat the Denver Broncos. Think about that. The last time the Broncos lost to Cleveland, Dan Reeves was the head coach. The result of Saturday’s 17-16 loss all but ends Denver’s season. The Broncos are now 6-8 on the season, and to avoid the first back-to-back losing seasons since 1971-72, they need to win both of the last two games.

The season’s not all that should end after this historic loss.

Winners

Al Wilson

I don’t care what happened on the field, it was awesome to see the former Broncos middle linebacker back on the sideline on Saturday. He’s one of the best and most popular players in franchise history, so to see the two sides begin to mend that relationship was a great sight. Hopefully it ends with Wilson getting his place in the Broncos Ring of Fame.

Von Miller

With his one sack late in third quarter, Miller is now Denver’s all-time franchise leader in sacks. He passed Ring of Famer Simon Fletcher. Miller now holds the record with 98 sacks. What’s even cooler about all of this is Fletcher was in attendance on Saturday and delivered a message to Miller. Miller also had two tackles, one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit. Congrats, Von. That’s an incredible accomplishment.

Here’s what Fletcher said to Miller: “It is my great pleasure to congratulate you on setting the new benchmark as the Denver Broncos’ reigning leader for quarterback sacks! I can think of no one more deserving of this honor. It goes without saying that your work ethic, your commitment to the Colorado community, the way you both prepare for and play the game makes all who’ve ever worn the orange and blue extremely proud to have you as a teammate, brother and friend. I look forward to watching you play for years to come, as you add excitement to each Broncos’ contest.”

Adam Gotsis

Denver’s defensive end played a helluva game. Gotsis also made the game-saving play on fourth down to give his offense the chance to win. Gotsis finished with six tackles, one strip-sack, one tackle for loss and one pass defended.

Dymonte Thomas

The Broncos safety recorded his first career interception. Anytime you do that, you make the list. Thomas finished with three tackles and one pass defended.

Brandon McManus

Without his three field goals, this game wouldn’t have been close. Though it’s the last one he made that is the biggest issue. Speaking of which ...

Losers

Vance Joseph

Have some balls and go for it on fourth down instead of kicking a field goal. Play to win the game instead of playing to lose. After the game, Joseph said he trusted his defense to go for the points. If he did, in fact, trust his defense, he would go for it. But Joseph doesn’t and didn’t. He needs to go. He now has back-to-back losses to the likes of the San Francisco 49ers and Browns. Joseph continues to make (horrible) history, and he’s not done yet. The time has come.

Bill Musgrave

The Broncos offensive coordinator needs to go at this point, too. As I said last week, enough is enough.

Case Keenum

Denver and Broncos Country wanted the quarterback to play aggressively, not aggressively dumb. Keenum threw two interceptions, the second of which was just awful and turned into a Cleveland touchdown. And on the potential game-winning drive, why did he spike it with a minute left?
