Best Broncos April Fools’ Day jokes

Von Miller pulled a cruel prank when said he was traded by Denver. Thankfully, there’s no chance this would happen.

Good morning, Broncos Country!

Most love a great April Fools’ Day Joke ... once they realize it’s a joke. That’s the key, it must be believable.

Last year, I said Tim Tebow was the answer at quarterback for the Denver Broncos. This was after Brock Osweiler signed with the Houston Texans and we were still amidst the Colin Kaepernick fun. Given the nonsense people were throwing out about who John Elway and the Broncos could/should go after, why not go all out? Some loved it, some were played the fool and others hated it (because it made light of their hero).

So that got me thinking: What were the best April Fools’ Day jokes involving the Broncos or the NFL?

Von Miller pulled a cruel joke for the unsuspecting Broncos fan on Saturday when he put on Instagram that he was traded. Obviously, there’s no way Denver would trade Miller but if you weren’t paying attention, you might get a little upset.

You knew someone would use the ongoing Tony Romo to get fans, and someone did. All this one used was a headline "Broncos, Tony Romo Agree To Terms On 4 Year, $49 Million Deal." All it takes is a headline since that’s pretty much anyone reads these days.

Those are the only ones I could find when it comes to Denver, if I missed any please put them in the comments for the rest of the community.

As for the NFL, here are some of the better ones I found:

  • Randy Moss signs with Colorado Rapids' USL affiliate: April Fools' joke.
  • Le’Veon Bell’s threat to sit out season written off as April Fools' Day joke.
  • Tom Brady posts infamous Boston Globe headline as April Fools' joke.
  • Ravens Pull April Fools' Prank, Say Team Will Be 1st To Sail To London.
  • Cowboys make blockbuster trade just weeks prior to NFL Draft: April Fools' joke.
