Adams has been a quality special teams player throughout his career

The New York Giants continued on Friday to add veteran depth to their roster, signing journeyman linebacker Matthew Adams.

Adams, 28, was a seventh-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2018. He has Played in 85 regular-season games with 13 starts, while playing for the Colts, Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.

Adams is a core special teams player. For the Browns last season, Adams played 435 special teams snaps (85%) while being on the field for only 97 defensive snaps. The most defensive snaps Adams ever played was 215 with the Colts as a rookie in 2018. He has played 61% or more of the special teams snaps in all six of his NFL seasons.

Adams was a Pro Football Focus first-team All-Pro for special teams play in both 2021 and 2023.

Earlier this week, the Giants added veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips. They have also added depth players like cornerback Darnay Holmes and wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie over the past few weeks.
