Oregon C Jackson Powers-Johnson, FSU CB Jarrian Jones to visit with Dolphins

Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins are still looking for answers along the offensive line.

The NFL Draft quickly approaches and the Miami Dolphins continue rounding out the list of 30 pre-draft interviews. Barry Jackson, reporter for the Miami Herald, shared that Jackson Powers-Johnson and Jarrian Jones will be meeting with the team ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Powers-Johnson, started 12 games at center for the Oregon Ducks last season and finished the year as a unanimous All-American. The Dolphins signed former Tenessee Titans center Aaron Brewer to a multiyear contract, but that shouldn’t prevent them from pursuing Powers-Johnson, considering he played 350 snaps at right guard and allowed just two pressures his sophomore season.

JPJ’s stock jumped after an impressive showing at the Senior Bowl, and on top of that, former Dolphins’ GM Mike Tannenbaum mocked him to Miami late last month. That said, he hasn’t always been viewed as a first-round “lock,” and could be an option if Miami were to trade down in the first round — or even move up in the second.

Jackson added that Florida State University cornerback Jarrian Jones would also visit with the Dolphins. He started nine games last season and finished the year with five tackles for a loss, three interceptions, and one sack.

The Mock Draft Database has Jones as a projected fifth-round pick, which would be right in Miami’s wheelhouse considering they lack third and fourth-round selections. On top of that, the Dolphins desperately need depth at cornerback behind Jalen Ramsey and Kendall Fuller.
