Joe Moses Personal Trainer

Joe was inspired to become a Personal Trainer after seeing such fantastic results in his own Fitness journey. He talks to Sundried about motivation and Training.

Please tell us about sporting events you have taken part in or have coming up.

I enjoy a wide variety of sports and have taken part in a few at club level. These include boxing, football, rugby and basketball.

Tell us about your journey to fitness? Where did it all start?

I have always been enthusiastic about exercise even from a very young age. Physical Education used to be my favourite lesson at school. However I would say the decision to step into the fitness industry started when I signed up for my first gym at the age of 17. At the time I was very skinny and all I wanted to do was put on some muscle. Fast forward 2 years and the result I had seen was incredible. So I decided that I wanted to help people get that feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction I felt. Since then, I have received my level 3 Personal Trainer Certificate, taken courses in Boxercise and I’m currently at university studying Sport Science with Business.

What are your training goals now?

With regards to training, my goals still remain the same. I am training to put on lean muscle until I reach a level that I am satisfied with.

Tell us one unusual fact we wouldn’t know about you:

I was born in Lagos, Nigeria.

What would future you, tell yourself when you were starting out?

When I first started out, I wish I had been told how important nutrition is in achieving my goals, because I used to eat a lot of fast food and think it was fine.

Do you follow a specific nutrition plan? If so, what/when do you eat?

I don’t follow a nutrition plan. I eat as much as I can and as clean as possible with the occasional treat.

What do you do to keep your clients motivated? Do you have any top tips to keep motivated?

Motivation is what drives people to come back into the gym day in day out. However it differs from person to person. To keep clients motivated, I use what they write down as their goal and keep reminding them of it during stages when they feel like giving up.

My top tip to keep motivated would be to find the reason why you want to be healthy and to remind yourself of that every time you feel like quitting.

Talk us through your training regime.

I aim to train 6 times a week with a rest day in Sunday. On each day of training, I focus on 2 muscle groups. Monday I train legs and shoulders, Tuesdays is for chest and triceps and Wednesday belong to back and bicep. I then repeat for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I also alternate days for training abs and calves. Additional to this, I try to do a bit of boxing training 3 times a week.

How do you keep your fitness knowledge up to date?

To keep my fitness knowledge up to date, I read fitness magazines such as Men’s Health and I also network with other personal trainers to share knowledge.

What are your top 3 trainer tips?

  1. Nutrition is your most important tool in achieving your goals
  2. Train at least 3 times a week if you want to see result
  3. Don’t be discouraged by failure, it’s how’s many times you get back up that matters.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

If I could eat only one thing for the rest of my life it would be rice.

Why work with Sundried?

I am working with Sundried not just because of the quality of the products that they produce, but also because of how it is produced.
