Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

The Eagles’ top 10 options with their first-round pick - PhillyVoice
1) Trade up. As noted above, the Eagles have eight picks, including two in the second round and three in the fifth round. They could use those picks as ammo to move up and select a player who would otherwise be unlikely to last until pick 22, with players like Mitchell, Arnold, DeJean, Fuaga, Fautanu, and Latham being the most logical targets. [...] 2) Find Lane Johnson’s eventual replacement. In the locker room after the Eagles’ playoff loss to the Bucs, Lane Johnson said that he thinks he has “a few good years left,” and while that may be true, he turns 34 in May and the Eagles have a consistent history of putting succession plans in place years in advance along the offensive line.

Looking for LBs - Iggles Blitz
This isn’t a great LB class, but there are some good players to target. Here is the way I have them ranked. 2nd – Edgerrin Cooper, 2nd – Junior Colson, 2nd – Payton Wilson3rd – Trevin Wallace, 3rd – Cedric Gray, 3rd – Jeremiah Trotter Jr, 4th – Tommy Eichenberg. I really want the Eagles to come away with Cooper, Colson, Wilson or Wallace. There are no sure things, but those guys feel the safest. Cooper is an explosive athlete with big time potential. I prefer LBs to be instinctive. That’s not his strength, but he’s more than just an athlete. Cooper is a playmaker who knows how to take advantage of his athleticism.

Two-Round 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Commanders select J.J. McCarthy, Vikings secure two QBs - PFF
Many people’s top cornerback in the draft, Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell has special click-and-close ability in zone coverage and earned 91.5-plus PFF grades in 2022 and 2023. Philadelphia’s cornerbacks are aging fast, and Mitchell would be a much-needed injection of youth.

Did Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs deals signal change in way NFL values RBs? - The Athletic
Last month, both had to find new destinations to get better deals. As the contracts around the league have shown, they weren’t able to raise the tide around them. Rather, they continued to be the exceptions at the position. “For select guys like Barkley, it’s about adding a piece to win the whole thing,” a coach said of the Eagles’ addition. “I think it’ll go back to being the relatively lowest-paid spot.”

Why teams with good scouting will win the 2024 NFL Draft - even more than in previous years - Blogging The Boys
Both cases illustrate how little agreement there is this year on the talent. Perhaps it’s because the players are very closely bunched, perhaps it’s because the players are a tougher group to rank than normal. And with the linemen so tightly bunched, maybe the rankings are a distinction without a difference anyway. And in this environment with a lot of ambiguity, teams with good scouting will prosper. In a draft where there is a very real risk of drafting a guy at No. 24 who’s a third-round talent at best, the ability to correctly grade players is key, especially when considering that roughly half the players picked in the first round will never do anything noteworthy in the NFL, as then-Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff explained a while back.

Giants mock draft: ESPN simulator throws a QB curveball - Big Blue View
OK, so the ESPN simulator is annoying me. I re-started this mock draft a half-dozen times. Each time, the simulator insisted that the New England Patriots would pass on a quarterback at No. 3 and select a wide receiver, then the Arizona Cardinals would select a quarterback at No. 4. I think that’s fantasy, and was attempting to get a real-world start to the mock. I finally gave up trying to get a scenario from this simulator where quarterbacks went 1-2-3. Instead, I do end up with a curveball scenario. Here, the Washington Commanders take J.J. McCarthy at No. 2 and the Cardinals take Jayden Daniels at No. 4. I know that at least the Cardinals’ portion of that is highly unlikely to happen, but it leaves me with a different choice to make at No. 6. Marvin Harrison Jr. is gone (No. 3 to the Patriots). Malik Nabers is also gone (No. 5 to the Los Angeles Chargers. That leaves me choosing between my favorite wide receiver, Rome Odunze of Washington, and the quarterback I think there is no chance the Giants would pass on, Drake Maye of North Carolina. Obviously, I took Maye.

Jayden Daniels QB1 for one prominent evaluator. Speaking of the LSU quarterback, one prominent evaluator listed Jayden Daniels as his QB1 on Monday. ESPN analyst, and former general manager, Louis Riddick. In a piece for ESPN titled “Louis Riddick’s favorite prospects, sleepers” the former GM led the way with the LSU quarterback. Yes, ahead of Caleb Williams.
