NFL Mock Draft Simulation: Eagles take Mims in the First

The draft is only fourteen days away… Here is how those three days could play out for the Eagles

Using the Pro Football Focus Mock Draft Simulator. Only picking for the Eagles and not trading.

Round 1, Pick 22 - Amarius Mims, Offensive Line, Georgia

As the draft gets closer, it is more clear the Eagles will use one of their first three picks on an offensive lineman. Crucially, the Eagles are interested in a player who can slide into guard and eventually move out to right tackle when Lane Johnson hangs it up. Amarius Mims feels like a good fit late in the first round. He is a more raw player, but has the tools to thrive at guard or tackle.

Round 2, Pick 50 - Khyree Jackson, Cornerback, Oregon

The Cornerback picture is not quite clear right now. Do the Eagles feel confident James Bradberry can have a bounceback season? Can Avonte Maddox stay healthy? Is Keele Ringo going to take another step? With little changes being made to a cornerback group that struggled last year, it’s fair to assume the Eagles could dip into a talented cornerback class this spring. Khyree Jackson has the length, athleticism, and ball skills to eventually take over at outside cornerback.

Round 2, Pick 54 - Edgerrin Cooper, Linebacker, Texas A&M

Linebacker also has question marks and Edgerrin Cooper would be a great way to make everyone feel better about the position. Cooper is a great athlete with a ferocious demeanor on the field. He has exactly the type of upside that Vic Fangio wants in a linebacker.

Round 3, Pick 97 - Braelon Allen, Running Back, Wisconsin

It is fair to assume the Eagles aren’t done overhauling their offensive backfield. The Saquon Barkley addition is key, but the Eagles still need a second running back to split carries with the talented veteran. Braelon Allen has an awesome upside and could be a great role player early in his career for the Eagles and potentially develop into a three down back.

Round 5, Pick 161- Theo Johnson, Tight End, Penn State

Theo Johnson has as much upside as any player in this class. He is a special athlete at the tight end position and would be a steal in the fifth round.

Round 5, Pick 171 - Jaylin Simpson, Safety, Auburn

Jaylin Simpson is the type of do-everything defensive back that could benefit the Eagles secondary. He is a smart, physical player who can play deep or down by the line of scrimmage. He can be crucial depth for the Eagles and maybe be a role player down the line.

Round 5, Pick 172- Luke McCaffrey, Wide Receiver, Rice

The Eagles made an effort to get more depth at wide receiver this offseason, but they could keep adding talent through a deep draft class. Luke McCaffrey is a great deep threat and could give the Eagles solid depth at outside receiver.

Round 6, Pick 210- Josh Wallace, Cornerback, Michigan

Wallace was the third best cornerback in a very good Michigan secondary. He is a smart, physical defender and would be great depth for the Eagles rebuilding secondary.
