Well, Doug Pederson is no longer head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Never thought I’d be typing that sentence fewer than three years after watching him raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy during the Super Bowl parade up Broad Street. And after the Eagles signed him and Howie Roseman to contract extensions that ran through the 2022 NFL season.
But here we are.

A head coach candidate with an offer from the Eagles and an offer from another team will take the other job. If he does otherwise, he's nuts.
The Eagles' open HC job won't be appealing. QB spot unsettled, the roster stinks otherwise (and has little chance of getting better anytime soon because of an awful cap situation), and there will be rightful concerns about a history of HC friction with team brass.

Now Eagles will be looking for HC to join a team with no QB solution, old roster, bad cap shape.
Plus, must be comfortable with Roseman handling personnel and Lurie/Roseman having strong input on staff.

Only one other NFL coach has been fired within six years of winning a Super Bowl. That was Don McCafferty of the Colts, fired five games into 1972 two years after winning the Super Bowl for refusing to bench 39-year-old Johnny Unitas.
Doug Pederson deserves all the credit in the world for his title-winning Eagles tenure, and he's not a bad coach. Philly legend forever. But the recent trajectory, because of both his doing and the organization's failures, made this split inevitable/enticing.
