Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Report: Jason Peters wants to stay with Eagles - 94WIP
“There’s no rush on Jason Peters’ part and there’s no rush on the Eagles’ part because nobody basically can do anything,” Gunn told Jon Marks and Ike Reese on the 94WIP Marks & Reese Show on Thursday afternoon. “Jason Peters, they know what he is, what he’s capable of doing. From what I’ve been told, Peters turned down offers from elsewhere because he wants to stay with the Eagles. The Eagles want him. You can look at it on the surface and say, well he’s 38 years old. But I will say this, he is that rarity of a guy who is still, at 38 years old, is still one of the best technicians at his position and is still I would argue one of the top 10 players, I think you guys would agree at his position as well. Granted injuries have started to pile up a little more, he’s playing 80-85 percent of the snaps. But I’d rather have Jason Peters 80-85 percent of the time than not have him at all right now.”

Predicting the Eagles’ final record for the 2020 NFL season - BGN
Now that the 2020 NFL schedule is officially here, it’s time for a very important and scientific exercise: going through the Philadelphia Eagles’ schedule game-by-game in order to come up with a final record prediction. I can’t help but point out that this exercise feels especially futile given the uncertainty that these games will even be played due to COVID-19. But alas, the content must go on! Last year around this time, I had the Eagles “looking at a floor of 9-7 and a ceiling of 12-4.” I was right about their floor as they ended up winning nine games. This obviously means I’m going to be right again this year, so make sure to really take these predictions to heart.

2020 BGN Draft #15: Best & Worst Picks II - BGN Radio
Michael Kist follows up on his chat with Brett Kollmann by going through some of his favorite & least favorite selections from the first two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft with extra thoughts on Jalen Reagor!

Where are the Eagles deep, and not so deep, after the 2020 NFL Draft: Defense edition - PhillyVoice
The Eagles have three defensive ends who will be expected to produce in Graham, Barnett, and Sweat. Thereafter, it’s sort of a mishmash of guys with unclear roles: Genard Avery’s best usage, in our view, would be as a hybrid linebacker / pass rusher. I don’t think he can play DE at his size on normal down-distances, because he’ll be a major liability against the run. And then even in obvious pass rush situations, I don’t think you can line him up on the edge and expect him to get a high percentage of one-on-one wins, because his size will always limit his pass rush repertoire. His explosiveness is pretty clear, but it’ll be a challenge to find ways to get him into games in that rush Joker role, without telegraphing to the offense what’s coming, unless he can develop as a linebacker who can also cover and play the run.

Looking at 2020 - Iggles Blitz
In a highly controversial move, the Eagles bring Wentz and Hurts off of IR. The plan is for Wentz, Hurts, Sudfeld and Ward to each get one quarter in the big game. As you would expect, the offense struggles. Luckily Daeshon Hall does not. He has another trio of strip sacks and runs them all back for TDs as the Eagles beat Bill Belichick and NFL MVP Jarrett Stidham. The Super Bowl parade is attended by 11,000 people. Days later, the open forum to discuss who should be the team’s QB in 2021 draws a crowd of almost 2 million. The real “new normal”.

2020 NFL schedule winners, best matchups: Experts make their picks - ESPN
Which rookie debut are you most interested in? Fowler: DE Chase Young, Redskins vs. Eagles. While everyone is closely examining the rookie quarterbacks, I’ll be watching Young bring Carson Wentz to the turf in a vintage Washington performance. I expect the Redskins to be much improved under Ron Rivera, and Young will lead a Pro Bowl-caliber charge.

Mark my words: The 2020 Eagles and how it will play out - PE.com
WEEK 17: January 3 vs. Washington Redskins, 1 p.m. on FOX With history on the line, Pederson taps Nate Sudfeld for the start at quarterback and he delivers with 35 completions in 41 attempts for 173 yards in the ball-control attack. Goedert catches 22 passes to set an NFL record (previously held by Brandon Marshall, 21). Elijah Holyfield and Corey Clement combine for 246 rushing yards. The Eagles make history. A regular season that began with so much uncertainty ends with perfection as the Eagles head into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the NFC and home-field advantage through the newly expanded playoff format “We always say, ‘Go 1-0 this week.’ We’ve done that every week this year, so I guess that makes us perfect,” Pederson said. “That’s a credit to the guys, our coaching staff, our fans, everyone in the organization. We have more to accomplish, though. We’re just getting started.” Final Score: Eagles 17, Redskins 0

Analyzing the Eagles’ No. 2 quarterback situation and where it ranks in the NFL - The Athletic
Still, it’s a bit presumptuous to think Hurts will become a high-quality backup quarterback just because he’s a second-round pick. There are a wide range of outcomes to consider. Just look at the last four quarterbacks taken in the back-third of the second round. If Hurts develops into what Jimmy Garoppolo (No. 62 overall, 2014) became in New England or Brock Osweiler (No. 57, 2012) became in Denver, that’s terrific contract value for a backup quarterback who provided serviceable on-field production while also netting the team future compensation. (Garoppolo was traded for a second-round pick; Osweiler brought Denver a third-round compensatory pick.) However, consider DeShone Kizer (No. 52, 2017) and Christian Hackenberg (No. 51, 2016), second-round picks drafted in the same range who did little to warrant their selections. Neither quarterback has found a stable NFL home.

Carson Wentz reacts to possible Jadeveon Clowney signing - NBCSP
“Listen, at the end of the day, I’ll trust Howie with that,” Wentz said Thursday. “That play happened, it is what it is. That’s football. It was an unfortunate way to end end season for me personally, but I have respect for Jadeveon, he’s a heck of a player.” Clowney wasn’t flagged or fined for what appeared to be a blatant late hit and cheap shot. Wentz suffered a concussion and was replaced by 40-year-old Josh McCown, and the Eagles went on to lose, 17-9. Wentz has missed the end of the last three seasons with injuries. “I don’t think he had any ill will with that hit,” Wentz said. “That’s part of football. But he’s a heck of a player, so I trust Howie to make the right decisions to make our team the best we can be.”

Saints have food delivered to front-line workers in four cities they will play - Canal Street Chronicles
“When you come to our house, 70 thousand voices unite to deliver one message: Y’all ain’t welcome here,” the video begins. “When we come to your house, we make sure y’all don’t want us coming back. So with a new season of NFL football upon us, we want to make one thing clear: None of that matters right now. Because while we may be enemies on the field, we are on one team, with one mission.” First responders in Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia and Atlanta received food from the Saints. The Saints couldn’t resist a jab at the Falcons, though.

The best Thursday Night Football games, ranked by how good they’ll be - SB Nation
T13: Eagles vs Giants: Nothing is better than an NFC East feud. That’s what we would be saying, but this is TNF. Both teams were way too tired to play to their full potential, and despite the game being hyped all week, it ended up being a low-scoring letdown.

After the Cowboys excellent offseason, there are no more excuses - Blogging The Boys
Not everything the Cowboys have done this offseason has met with approval. Prescott is still mired in negotiations over his new contract, and has not signed his franchise tag. Deciding to not try and re-sign Bryon Jones will be debated for some time. But the good of this offseason far outweighs the bad. We can’t even resort to the old meme of Jerry Jones as a poor GM, because he has made no egregious missteps this time. If the Cowboys fall short, none of the old excuses will hold much water. Even having a mostly new coaching staff cannot be called on. This one has too much experience and past success for that to fly. Count me as one who doesn’t think we will need to make any excuses this year.

Five takeaways from the New York Giants 2020 schedule - Big Blue View
Those games aren’t surprising either. The Giants are a huge market, and the league loves to get them in prime time to start the season whenever possible, and a game against the Steelers is a big draw for Week 1. Likewise, it’s always a highlight when the Giants play the Eagles — granted bad and weird things always seem to happen when these two teams meet (Does anyone know about the cat population in the Lincoln Financial Center?)
