Happy trails, CB.

Former Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Connor Barwin officially announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday evening.

Tomorrow [on October 15] I turn 33 and after a decade of playing the greatest sport there is, I’m excited to say I’m moving on to the next chapter of my life. To my coaches, teammates, fans, and family - thank you all! It was a honor to compete on Sundays for the last ten years. Houston, Philadelphia, LA, and New York - couldn’t have dreamed of a better journey. Thank you for the good times and all the support!

Barwin expressed interest in returning to the Eagles earlier this year but the team passed on bringing him back. Now he’s calling it a career.

Barwin spent the first four years of his pro football journey with the Houston Texans after being selected in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He then signed with the Eagles in free agency in 2013 and remained with Philadelphia through 2016. Barwin spent 2017 with the Los Angeles Rams and 2018 with the New York Giants.

Barwin leaves the NFL with 112 starts in 142 games played. He logged 368 total tackles, 124 quarterback hits, 56.5 sacks, 44 pass deflections, seven forced fumbles, one interception, and one safety during that span. Barwin earned Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors in 2014.

In addition to his contributions on the field, Barwin has done a lot of great work in the community through his Make The World Better foundation. Even though he hasn’t played for the Eagles since 2016, he still holds annual benefit concerts in Philly to raise money that helps revitalize the city such as through playground restoration.

Here’s wishing Barwin nothing but the best in retirement.
