The Linc - NFL reporter says Eagles are among early favorites to trade for Jalen Ramsey

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 9/19/19.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Jalen Ramsey trade buzz: Chiefs, Eagles, Seahawks among early favorites to land star corner - CBS Sports
A day after Ramsey all but admitted to local media that he’d like to be dealt elsewhere, legitimizing reports from earlier in the week indicating the outspoken Pro Bowler had officially requested a trade, CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora said Wednesday at least three different teams are considered early favorites to acquire the former first-round draft pick. ”The sense that I’m getting from GMs and personnel directors is Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles,” La Canfora told Adam Schein on CBS Sports Network. “These are three teams you hear the most about. Seattle, Philadelphia, they’ve been as proactive in making trades in this league across the board as anybody. And both were in, at least to some degree, on Minkah Fitzpatrick.”

Five trade fits for Jalen Ramsey: What the Jaguars want, and what’s next - ESPN In$ider
Philadelphia Eagles. Projected first-round pick in 2020: No. 22. Like the Chiefs, the Eagles have a stacked-looking roster with a potential soft spot in the secondary. At this point, indications are that the Eagles are among the teams that would wait for the price to drop before wading into this seriously. But if it does, they also have enough roster depth in other spots to package a potential starter with their first-round pick.

Jacksonville Jaguars ‘likely target date’ to trade Jalen Ramsey is Friday - Big Cat Country
The Jacksonville Jaguars could very well deal cornerback Jalen Ramsey sooner rather than later with NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reporting the “most likely target date” for his trade being Friday.

Beat back and forth: Should the Eagles trade for Jalen Ramsey? - The Athletic
My only real concern is about the personality. I have no real sense of whether the Eagles view Ramsey as someone disenchanted with a poorly run organization or someone who will be a distraction wherever he goes. They can glean some insight from his college position-mate Ronald Darby and his high school teammate Derek Barnett. I’ll take Ramsey at face value when he says he simply wants to win, and presume that he would be happy to go to a franchise with a winning recent history. And cornerback is probably the best position on the field for an outsized ego. Of course, we don’t know what the cost will end up being. I’d hang up the phone if multiple first-round picks is the sticking point, but if something like a 2020 first, Sidney Jones and a mid-round pick is the cost, I’d have Jeffrey Lurie charter a plane to Jacksonville tonight.

Eagles fans, come tailgate with Bleeding Green Nation! - BGN
It doesn’t matter if 50 people or 2 people come by. I’d love to just have a central location where like-minded Birds fans can meet up. I tailgate in the Jetro Lot, typically in the same spot every week, straight south from the entrance on 7th and Pattison. Our gracious leader Brandon Lee Gowton will be supplying me with a Bleeding Green Nation logo flag and flagpole as well, making it a bit easier to spot me amidst the sea of cars, trucks and RVs in the lot.

Eagle Eye: Carson Wentz puts offense on his back - PE.com
Now, let’s get to the play on the field. Carson Wentz didn’t have a great start to the game. There are throws I’m sure he would love to have back that were a bit off target as he worked on his timing with the cadre of new pass targets. He bounced back in the second half, however, and put the offense on his back, nearly willing the team to victory. It was a very courageous performance, especially considering the amount of hits he took. Atlanta’s defensive front, which we profiled last week before the game, was as good as advertised. Grady Jarrett and Takk McKinley each had strong games up front and were extremely disruptive. Atlanta also turned up the heat on Wentz, relying on a number of blitzes to get after the quarterback on Sunday night.

Eagles vs. Lions: 5 matchups to watch - PhillyVoice
5) The Eagles vs. the first quarter. In Week 1, there was perhaps a bad penalty called on Jackson that interrupted a first quarter drive. In Week 2, the Eagles were dealing with multiple unexpected injuries very early. They didn’t score in the first quarter in either game. In Week 3, Eagles fans aren’t going to listen to excuses for a lack of first quarter production. In 2018, the Eagles scored just 2.6 points per game in the first quarter, worst in the NFL. That has to change now.

Opportunities - Iggles Blitz
I think one of the strengths of this coaching staff is how they develop young guys and role players. Some teams fall apart when starters get hurt. The Eagles under Doug Pederson have been able to stay competitive and win their share of games. The personnel department finds the right guys. The coaching staff develops the talent and does a good job of putting players in position to succeed. The Eagles still have plenty of firepower. They should win this Sunday. Just as important, the Eagles should continue to improve. The team has looked fantastic for stretches, but completely inept for other parts of games. I think the Eagles will smooth things out as the season moves along. Some key players missed the summer and still haven’t played their best football yet.

NFL Week 3 PFF Preview: Players to watch, fantasy football advice and betting projections - PFF
Detroit Lions @ Philadelphia Eagles. NFL Players to Watch. Through two weeks, rookie Miles Sanders leads all Eagles running backs in percentage of offensive snaps played (46.2%), but the former Penn State standout has struggled to make the most of his opportunities. He ranks 28th in rushing grade (55.5) among the 30 NFL backs with 20 or more carries through Week 2. He also ranks 28th in forced missed tackles per attempt (0.05) and tied for 23rd in yards after contact per attempt (2.3).

Taking Stock Of All 32 NFL Backfields - Rotoworld
Notes: The Eagles haven’t quite handed the backfield to Sanders, who has totaled just 64 total yards on 25 touches this season. Yes, Sanders had a riveting 21-yard score in Week 1 nullified by an iffy holding penalty, but he’s clearly still going to be sharing the backfield with Sproles and Howard for the time being. Fantasy owners should be patient, as the lead back in what’s expected to eventually be a high-flying Eagles offense should find his way to some solid production sooner rather than later.

34) Put up a stellar 8/107/1 line with Alshon and D-Jax out on SNF and could’ve had more. A matchup vs. Slay should put a damper on his ceiling.

Detroit Lions Week 3 scouting report: The Eagles are average in a lot of ways - Pride Of Detroit
The Philadelphia Eagles host the Detroit Lions this week, and Detroit will head to the City of Brotherly Love as significant underdogs. It’s a little curious considering just how beat up the Eagles are and how disappointing their performance was on Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons. Still, the Lions didn’t exactly wow anybody with their win over the Chargers last week, seeing as both teams played a fairly sloppy game. So can the Lions pull off another upset this week? Let’s take a closer look at the 2019 Philadelphia Eagles.

Eagles’ run game dealt big blow with injury to tight end Dallas Goedert - Inquirer
Without Goedert on Sunday, the Eagles used “11’’ personnel — one tight end and three wide receivers — the entire game and threw the ball 48 times. They ran the ball just 21 times for 49 yards. Didn’t have a run longer than 5 yards. Goedert almost certainly will miss at least the next two games. The Eagles promoted Alex Ellis from their practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Lions. The Eagles had carried three tight ends on their roster in each of Doug Pederson’s first three seasons as the team’s head coach. This is the first year they elected to go with two. Baldinger thinks it was a mistake. “I didn’t agree with their decision to go with only two [tight ends],’’ he said. “I felt it was going to eliminate a lot of the formations that I thought they were really good at.

NFL Backup Quarterback Situations, Ranked: From the Jets to the Best - The Ringer
10. Josh McCown, Eagles. McCown is the platonic ideal of a career backup: He’s played for eight different teams since being drafted by the Cardinals in 2002 and has spent time with even more squads during various training camps over the years. Yet McCown has been sneakily solid, especially in 2017 when he threw for 2,926 yards, 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 13 games as the Jets starter. The biggest downside to McCown is that he is now on the wrong side of 40. In his defense, he doesn’t look like it.

NFL Panic Index 2019: Somehow, we’re running out of starting quarterbacks - SB Nation
Quarterbacks are dropping like flies (not Tom Brady and Russell Wilson, though!) while Adam Vinatieri and the Broncos’ pass rush look decidedly not like themselves.
