It’s just not a true NFL offseason without a Cowboys player getting in trouble.

Dallas defensive end David Irving is being suspended for the first four games of the 2018 season, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Irving reportedly violated the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Irving finished with the second most sacks (7) of any Cowboys defender last season despite missing the first four games due to a PED suspension. Losing him for a quarter of 2018 certainly hurts the Dallas pass rush.

Barring a successful appeal, the Cowboys will be without Irving against the Carolina Panthers (away), the New York Giant (home), the Seattle Seahawks (away), and Detroit Lions (home) in their first four games this year.

While the Cowboys are having to deal with a new suspension, the Philadelphia Eagles are having to deal with additional weight on their fingers from the Super Bowl Rings they received on Thursday evening.
