‘We will do everything to keep him’ – Monaco under no pressure to sell Manchester United and Arsenal target Kylian Mbappe

Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev insists the club are under no pressure to sell Arsenal and Manchester United target Kylian Mbappe.

The 18-year-old forward has taken Europe by storm this season with his performances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, and has attracted the prying eyes of top clubs.

Arsenal sent scout Gilles Grimandi to specifically watch the French starlet in action in their recent win over Manchester City, while Chelsea and Tottenham are also said to be interested.

Monaco were forced into selling prized asset Anthony Martial to Manchester United in 2015, but Vasilyev was quick to dismiss that the French giants will be in a similar position with Mbappe.

The vice president has stressed that the club will do everything in their power to keep the young striker at the Stade Louis II beyond the end of the summer, and feels that there is no reason for Mbappe to leave.

“Kylian is a child of the club and embodies the quality of our training,” he told L’Equipe.

“He has very smart parents and they know very well about a career of a footballer.

“We will do everything to keep him and it is very much possible that he will be here next season.

“I don’t see why he would want to leave.”
