New Year’s College Football Open Thread

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Happy New Year, Dawg Sports readers!

It’s a great day to spend time with family and friends, and a great day to watch some College Football. The action kicks off at noon with the Reliaquest Bowl on ESPN2, putting a Jayden Daniels-less #13 LSU against Wisconsin. Then at 1:00 you have your choice of #17 Iowa versus #21 Tennessee in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl (ABC) or #8 Oregon taking on #23 Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl (ESPN).

But those matchups are just a prelude to the evening’s College Football Playoff semifinals. Alabama will take on Michigan in the Rose Bowl at 5:00 on ESPN, with Washington and Texas to follow in the Sugar Bowl around 8:45.

Do we wish the Georgia Bulldogs were taking the field today? Sure. Do we believe those Bulldogs were one of the four best teams in college football this season? Yes, because we’re not morons. But we’re also going to put any bitterness aside to watch the penultimate day of college football for this season. Thanks for joining us, and…

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
