The Georgia Bulldogs still have some unfinished business to take care of in 2023, but their efforts to win a third national title in four years come 2024 got a huge boost this afternoon.

If you’d told Georgia Bulldog fans twenty-four months ago that they’d be this excited for Carson Beck to be returning to Athens for his senior season they might not have believed you. But the Jacksonvillain has cemented his status in 2023 as one of the top quarterbacks in the country, and an early contender for the 2024 Heisman. After patiently waiting his turn behind JT Daniels and then Stetson Bennett, Beck seized the starting spot in his fourth season in Athens, throwing for 3738 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also completed 72.4% of his passes, 6th nationally and a new UGA record.

Beck’s return secures for another season a quarterback rotation that was starting to look a little dicey. Second string quarterback Brock Vandagriff already announced his transfer to Kentucky, and top 2024 quarterback prospect Dylan Raiola made official today his decision to flip to Nebraska. Had Beck not returned the Bulldogs would have likely been in the market for a veteran transfer to compete with Gunner Stockton and incoming freshman Ryan Puglisi.

Truth be told, Vandagriff and Raiola’s decisions were most likely influenced by the expectation that Beck would be back in 2024. With critical losses at tailback, receiver, tight end, and on the offensive line, Beck’s return provides the shot of continuity that Georgia needed to make another title run a realistic expectation.
