Tuesday Morning ‘Dawg Bites Is Still Giving Thanks

Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog fans! Clean Old-Fashioned Hate is safely behind us, as is Thanksgiving. But I for one am still feeling grateful, because the team I root for not only has Actual Football in the immediate future, but meaningful actual football. And at least 2 more games. You could be supporting Tennessee and somehow praying for a central Florida bowl game... that’s sad. You might pull for Auburn, knowing that you have a game left but will be cleaning out your locker before the calendar turns to 2024... depressing. Maybe the worst of all, you are a Florida Gator and you’ve just given the end of season handshake to all 137 staff analysts. We may not be perfect, but it’s still a pretty good time to be a Georgia Bulldog.

I didn’t know of too many thrilled that COFH was played at 7:30 pm. And that looked like it extended to the field of play. Nevertheless, the victory (and all the streaks) were secured and everybody is now happy. Unless your job is to analyze each position group and post it for the world to see.

CJ Allen had a solid game, filling in for Jamon Dumas-Johnson at linebacker. He didn’t make the highlight worthy plays like he did versus Ole Miss, but his 8 tackles were key for Georgia’s defense and good enough to earn another SEC Freshman of the Week award.

Alabama might be without one of their best weapons, in Jase McCellan. The senior running back is suffering from a left foot injury and is questionable according to some reports. Don’t worry, I’m sure the Armani Bear has a Derrick Henry sitting around somewhere he can break out if he needs to.

The Georgia injury report is chock full of questionables. I didn’t see an official one released, and didn’t hear Head Coach Kirby Smart address it more than in passing in his press conference today. We know Brock Bowers and Tate Ratledge were both dressed out and could have played, they just didn’t need to. Ladd McConkey stayed in warm-ups. It was good to see Warren Brinson back and contributing.

But can JDJ actually get back on the field in time for the SECCG Saturday afternoon? One part of me says “clickbait”, the other part of me says “how in the ever-loving heck did Brock Bowers return so quickly?”. The third half of me is waffling.

College GameDay is coming to a city, just not Athens. Rece, Kirk, and the whole gang will set up in Atlanta in preparation for Saturday’s SEC Championship that afternoon. No word on if Pat McAfee will continue to bury himself under the likeness of David Pollack.

I’m sure Nick Saban and Kirby Smart are perfectly content to let Mike Elko and Jeff Lebby to soak up the news wire, with special dispensation for Auburn to continue barning in all forms. The biggest question is will the current dorm residents return all the toilet paper they stole? Have a great day, drop any news and notes in the comments, and as always...

GO ‘DAWGS!!!
