Tuesday ‘Dawg Bites: The Summer of Georgia is Over

Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog Fans! I hope everyone had a safe, and happy, Labor Day Weekend. Not all were able to take off 3 straight days, and we appreciate those who kept the machinery going over the holiday.

Watching the fall camp for Alabama was certainly entertaining as they couldn’t seem to decide on a starting quarterback, even with a meh-transfer portal candidate. Now, that potential problem seems to be solved.

LSU was a favorite of many in the off-season, thinking that Feaux Tiger Brian Kelley would do even greater things in year 2. How did that turn out?

Texas Tech, and a handful of others, would like Superman to take flight and turn back time slightly (if you don’t know this reference, just know your time isn’t now, but 10 years from now). After Monday ‘Dawg Bites pulled a hammy, it was certainly on the table that Tuesday would claim a whiplash. But instead, we just decided that the Summer or Georgia (also a reference, albeit with license, that you should know) is officially over. Labor Day has come and gone, the cicadas have been hinting loudly, and the sun just isn’t coming up as early. Get used to it folks, summer is over and college football with its foibles, Cinderella’s, and throat-forced narratives is upon us in full force. Let’s get on to news and notes of the Georgia Football variety.

In what we’ve entrenched as a tradition, we let the intrepid folks at the Red & Black spill their collective caffeinated beans on each position group as the weekly game concludes. Having missed most of the 1H due to technology issues, I’ll have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Having been a Georgia fan and having access to post-game comments, methinks they were already grading on the curve.

We all know the Bulldogs weren’t fully loaded on the offensive side of the ball. There were surprising absences, especially in the receiving corps. If you wanted to hold someone out, UT Martin was probably the game to let that player get healthy on the sidelines. And it looks like that’s the case. From all sources, McConkey, Edwards, and Rosemey-JackSaint will be probably come this weekend.

If you were a little surprised that Peyton Woodring got the PK duties (other than kickoffs), then Coach Kirby Smart will explain why. And maybe more of interest, how the battle for QB2 is going and how the 2H played out with the person under center.

I see many are questioning the play-calling and execution at the end of the first half, when UGA was primed for another touchdown. Head Bulldog Smart elaborated on this one as well.

There was some unpleasant news out of Athens, concerning assistant coach and WLOCP-saving hero Jarvis Jones. Go do your own search on that one.

Enjoy the start of a short week, and as always...

GO ‘DAWGS!!!!
