2017 Stanley Cup Finals

Another June means another NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, this time between the Nashville Predators and the Pittsburgh Penguins – both of these teams will be going into the final series with the potential of creating history. The Penguins are aiming to be the first team to go back-to-back in the salary cap era while the Predators can be the first number 16 seed to win the Championship.

The biggest influence this series is obviously yet to be seen but will more than likely be the injuries. While both teams have significant injuries to their core group and the fact that the series can span over seven games, the constant grinding on the ice will wear down players incredibly quickly.

These two teams also boast a couple of the best coaches in the land right now and the best part is Nashville’s Peter Laviolette and Pittburgh’s Mike Sullivan are from Massachusetts; coincidence? Laviolette won a championship with Carolina in 2006 and Sullivan’s impressive last few years speak for itself.

The series will no doubt be fast paced with both teams highlighting their exceptional skill and speed across the ice and despite Nashville showing some impressive resilience, the Penguins have been one of the best teams in the competition for a reason. Expect a close series with the Penguins to just get out on top.
