Rip Curl Pro 2017

The Rip Curl Pro is finally here and is celebrating its 56th year as the world’s best male and female surfers go head-to-head for surfing glory; the Rip Curl Pro Bell. The event has always been an incredibly big part of surfing culture and has been a major influence in bringing world surfing to the forefront of world sport.

Due to it being one of the longest running surfing events, it has a level of significance to the professional surfing scene and is highly regarded by all in the surfing community; notably as a rite of passage for fans and surfers alike.

Not only does it does recognise the best surfers in the world, it also puts Australia “on the map” and continues to build for us a reputation that we’re one of the world’s capitals for major sporting events.

The event is expected have decent weather with only minor swells across the couple of days. Winds will be present and should only be unfavourable a couple of the mornings, however the rest of the competition seems to be pleasant.

Defending champions Matt Wilkinson from Avoca, New South Wales and Courtney Collogue from Santa Ana, California will be looking impose their dominance on the world surfing stage again.

The drive is only about 70 minutes from Melbourne so if you’re looking for something to do this week, then witnessing surfing excellence should be one of them. Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for concession so it’s the perfect event for families.
