Millwall will be hoping this is the game where they record their first win back in the Championship. Certainly prior to the season, they’d have looked at their opening fixtures and thought they had a fairly decent start but this game suddenly looks a bit trickier, with the visitors having made an excellent opening to the campaign. Overall this game looks like it could well be a low-scoring contest.

All of Millwall’s three competitive games so far this season have produced under 2.5 goals. They’ll be pleased that they’ve looked pretty solid at the back so far this term and it’s hard to see them being on the wrong end of many heavy defeats, even if they will be underdogs most weeks. They are favourites here though and with a 75% home clean sheet ratio in 2017, they should be able to keep Ipswich’s attack pretty quiet.

The big question really as far as Millwall’s season is concerned is, whether their attacking players are going to be able to make the step up and deliver the goods at this level. If the likes of Steve Morrison and Lee Gregory fail to do that, they could be in big trouble.

So far they’ve not been that clinical in the final third and they won’t get that many opportunities against a well-organised Ipswich side. The Suffolk club have responded brilliantly to losing their final pre-season friendly 6-1 against Charlton, by winning their opening three competitive matches and conceding just 1 goal in the process. Therefore, they’ll have plenty of reason to head into this game with confidence.

It’s hard to see Ipswich being prolific either this season though. They do have options up front but despite success in other leagues, none of their forwards have a great goalscoring record at this level and that’s a concern. They benefited from playing a poor Barnsley side at the weekend and will find chances harder to come by here.
