The Cast 070818

No theme we will see where this leads us), nothing pre-written, lightly organized, barely edited, and simply 90 minutes of my weekly thoughts…

SETTING:

I ran my errands and had a low key Close-to-home weekend, am over the extreme Denver heat outside (but still great because we have no HUMIDITY), Lindsey is out with a friend, and just sitting in the AC listening to some tunes with the WSOP on in the background…hmmm…listening to WSP watching WSOP.

EVERGREEN:

  • While free agency was happening in the NBA and when we got to read about present contracts, draft picks, possible trades, etc., it made me realize how well positioned the Celtics are for the future. People who are not NBA fans simply know that the Celtics advanced to the Conference Finals without their two best players.  But, if you look at where they are at overall, it is masterful.  They have some of the best young stars, they have some of the better developmental guys, they still have a boat load of draft picks in future drafts, and they are on the doorstep.  If Danny Ainge calls, I am not answering because I know he will get the better of me.  But, then I AM answering because I know the cabinet is full.  Another item on this topic.  People are coming out of the woodwork talking about making the NBA Playoffs a COMBINED East and West to mitigate the weakness of the East right now.    Don’t do it.  Everything is cyclical.  If we let things run their course, we might be complaining about the flip scenario in 10 years.  Things are fine and keep the Conference rivalries intact.  I grew up in the 80’s when the NFC ruled things in the NFL, and everything turned out just fine on that one.
  • I don’t have a solution. I can’t write the laws.  But, there HAS to be a way we can include a MINIMUM salary someone can accept in free agency.  I know that DeMarcus Cousins was getting less because of injury, but in this day and age of overpaid NBA players, the fact that he is getting less than $10 mil after averaging 25 plus points per game is ridiculous.  Let’s stop the guys from jumping on the bandwagon.  I don’t want to stop everyone, but players making bank in endorsements and other activities who really don’t need a salary can pull a David West whenever they want now for pennies.  I don’t know how.
  • I feel like I know stuff about sports. But then, something comes along that totally confused me.  Sure, I can’t hear the internal talks or maybe phone calls with LeBron saying how MUCH he wanted his family in L.A., but I am not surprised WHERE he went but I am VERY surprised he went EARLY in his decision.  I thought he would at least have enough options where he could make his final call after the dust settled.  One could argue that he went early so he could help orchestrate his OTHER pieces.  If that is the case, then he picks bad running mates.  If you are telling me LeBron’s hidden gems were Lance Stephenson, Rajon Rondo, and JeVale McGee, then I apparently don’t know anything.  They are like the non-defensive/ headache version of the Bad Boys.
  • You can hate both teams, the players, the fans, or just the media coverage of the northeast in general, but it is just BETTER for baseball when the Red Sox-Yankees series are meaningful. And they are again this year.  Sports needs Notre Dame football to be good, Duke basketball to be good, and the Yankees and Red Sox to be fighting it out to NOT be the wildcard.  Villains are good for sports, and when two teams that are not only both villains, but each OTHER’S villain, you have perfection.
  • Let’s all take a moment and remember how great the number 2,632 is. Think about this.  Alcides just had HIS consecutive games streak stopped in MLB.  He was the leader.  His “streak” ended at 421 games.  That is about 2,200 short of Cal Ripken.  Galvis now is the new leader…at 254.  That is amazing.  And, when you think that if you want to know the first names of Alcides and Galvis, you probably need to Google them.  With Cal, he was not only consistent, but GOOD for the duration.  Incredible record that will outlive you and I.

WEEK-FISH:

  • The Phillies are in first. Sounds delightful just rolling off my tongue…PC…
  • Joey Chestnut has become the hot dog version of the Warriors. I am rooting for someone in the field to make a move before next year, I don’t hate Joey but consider him the Evil Empire now, and I think I know that next year will be more of the same and that I shouldn’t get my hopes up for someone else winning.  I am not greedy where I want him to lose, but I need a few buzzer beaters in the future using the upcoming Nathan’s electronic scoring for next year to at least have hope.
  • I feel like the UFC fights ZOOMED to about 210 and I couldn’t believe there were that many, yet I recently feel like we have been in the 220’s for a LONG time.
  • KU hired a new AD, and he certainly can only go up on the football side of things.
  • I have a job. I have a house to keep up now.  I don’t have kids, but I have two cats and will be getting a dog.  But, I am busy.  If I wasn’t busy with normal life, I think I would watch a LOT of NBA Summer League games.  I would enjoy them and probably root against any kids who entered the draft a year or two early who shouldn’t have.
  • Grayson Allen, we are pretty sure is a punk. So, after a year at trying to win us over with good behavior, I was sad but still not surprised he got in a minor scuffle in a Summer League game.  I guess it takes more than a couple of months to clear your head of the Duke aloof confines.  That stuff won’t fly in the NBA, bro.  In the words of my buddy, Vince, Duke sucks.
  • I really don’t get the big time media coverage of the Ryan Leaf support letter that Hunter S. Thompson wrote back in the day. It’s cool and all, but Leaf was on par with Peyton for scouts anyway, and I am pretty sure Hunter S. Thompson’s known stereotype means he can pretty much do whatever he wants and write whatever he wants without anyone questioning any rationale of his.
  • Some stories aren’t dramatic enough to get much pub, but I caught what Marquese Goodwin did for his mom and sister this week and it was stellar. Dude fought and finally had a breakout year at WR for his 49ers.  He got the bigger contract, and first thing he did was buy his mom and sister a new HOUSE.  I know my mom is aware that my first item of business also if I hit it big was to buy her a house too.  At the time, the house was on my lot of my mapped out 8 year old mind property.  Good win for Goodwin.  See what I did there?
  • Leonard Fournette also did a nice thing for a random someone. He saw on social media a kid who was getting his senior year tuition pulled and was asking for help.  Leonard offered to pay the whole year.
  • Over the holiday the Rockies had a home 1-0 game. It was the fourth time ever a game at Coors Field ended with that score.
  • We can laugh at her antics sometimes. We will unfortunately always remember the roundhouse that doomed her, but Ronda Rousey being inducted in the UFC HOF was deserved and she will always be one of those people who changed the entire path of the sport.
  • The Thai soccer team is now officially being rescued. What a story.  So many complications, so much intrigue.  I wish them the best.  I was bothered, as a water guy, that one of the moms said her son will never be near water again.  That is wrong.  Water is fantastic.  Water is only dangerous when abused.  I think I am a mortal Aquaman.  I am not asking your kid to watch the weather to find out when it will rain, but I will just say that going three miles into a cave was the problem and NOT water.  Let the kid face water like Luke faced Darth Vader.    That comparison doesn’t work…because Luke and Darth initially met in a cave.  Moving on…
  • Impressive that the Nationals came back from NINE runs down the other day to WIN the game a day after a players only meeting. Not impressive that they needed a players only meeting at ALL during the season.
  • Melo and OKC will part ways. Given that a team who would take him on wouldn’t pay much and be getting instant offense.  But I am willing to bet that some players would sometimes like the ball back…you know…if someone is defending him.  But that just doesn’t HAPPEN with Melo.
  • Scary enough when the money is going out and the team is just getting close, but before Melo was cut, the OKC Thunder were the most expensive team ever, and they didn’t go anywhere in the playoffs last year.
  • It is an insult in a way to how much MONEY some of these guys have through the eyes of poorer folks, but damn if I am NOT tuning in if Phil and Tiger play a match for $10 million. Get it done, guys.  I will change my schedule to watch.  I like what Tiger said on this concept.  He said he would bet whatever amount would make Phil “uncomfortable.”
  • Tiger will be motivated to make back some money after losing his OWN tourney on the tour.
  • College is different from the pros. I don’t remember a QB battle so high profile with a possible national championship on the line based on a wrong OR right decision on the battle than the one in Bama these days.
  • Anyone else notice on Friday that the ESPN website was STUCK at the 73’ minute of the soccer match? Belgium played, according to them, for like 4.5 hours.
  • The Spurs are in more turmoil than the women’s draw at Wimbledon. Seeing Tony Parker in any other jersey (Charlotte in this case) is going to be very weird.
  • I feel like watching Groundhog Day every time I read about Reuben Foster getting arrested or suspended, and can’t personally keep track if offenses are new or old.
  • It is better than Apple to say the least, but celebrity and sports star Steph Curry named his kid Canon W. Jack. Good mild references I say to shooting but without a stupid name that will get him laughed at, but someone really was fighting to fit in the two names and the letter “W” in his name.
  • Andy Warhol called Pierre-Paul and said “talk to you next Fourth.”
  • Tim Tebow was named to the Eastern League All-Star team. Whatever the hell that league IS, at least we are guaranteed for about another year minimally of Tebow stories.  I love that guy out there still trying.  Stay excited and keep being ALMOST good.  I am afraid I would move up from the “Dislike” level if he recognized he should quit and just talked on TV.  Then again, his voice would irritate me, so I think I am safe whatever he decides to do.  Sorry, God.  I don’t like the guy no matter HOW much he loves you.
  • Hey, T.O. It is NOT that some of us feel you need to speak IN Canton as opposed to your college.  It is more that you ARE T.O., and we just expect mild ripples wherever you go, so this is just another small item on that long list of just mildly irritating things.
  • World Cup
    • That extra time by Columbia almost caused a 4 year heart attack for England. Now, they are like the Mike Miller Gators (won on a first round buzzer beater and cruised to being the runner-up).  With the history of penalty kicks and England, that was a close call with a happy ending.
    • Neymar is one of the top 5 players in the world in soccer without a doubt, but he enhances the stereotype of soccer players because he is so visible. His antics after calls and goals are ridiculous.  He is a cry baby.  Carry yourself like you were watching, bro. It would pain you to watch yourself and you know it.  Settle down.
    • Belgium-Brazil was the best match of the World Cup thus far. The back and forth action, the multiple goals, and the constant danger of Brazil’s offense provided a very entertaining soccer match.
    • We lost our two biggest stars, and have since lost every second tier star (except Harry Kane). Still, the greatest tourney goes on.  Whatever we end up with, just admit to yourself that it is kind of like the Jazz against the Raptors for this year’s title.  More like the Blazers and Miami if England and France bow out.
    • Of the four teams left, only two are past winners. That is fun.  There are only EIGHT winning countries overall, so this thing is hard to win.  France has a title.  England has won a title, although it has been a while.  They won the year they hosted the tourney.  Belgium has gotten relatively close, and Croatia did better under the Yugoslavia rule way back when.   I feel like this year’s last four lacks a villain as they are all likeable teams, but overall a great final team roundup.
    • France is the young and upcoming team as they have reloaded. Belgium is the team about to go over the hill.  One is peaking sooner, and one is peaking a little later.  And one of them will see this as a missed chance with all of the other heavyweights cleared from the draw.
  • Wimbledon
    • Venus out
    • Keys out
    • Halep out
    • Muguruza out
    • Wozniacki out
    • The women’s side is pandemonium. Serena might have been an unknown coming into this thing, but the road is now paved like Bill Pullman is doing it in Independence Day.
    • I hope you aren’t bored of Nadal quite YET…love it. Opposite type of surface as clay, and still winning in straight sets and barreling over people.
  • NBA
    • The Nugs signed Jokic, and they should have. Would I have paid Barton HIS offer? Probably not.
    • Quietly, the Rockets picked up Michael Carter-Williams. I love this pickup for ceiling value.  He is still relatively young, and coming into the draft, his ceiling was higher than most of his higher picked draft class.  He will be a solid bench player.  Kind of like a possible Shaun Livingston in value.
    • Cousin goes to the Warriors. I admit to feeling a little anger at the Warriors, but then I got over it.  I am mad at the whole LEAGUE for being in the state it is in, but they are just maximizing the rules.  I can’t fault them for that.  They draft well, pickup people (like Cousins) that others had a shot on and passed on, and take care of who they can.
      • Yes, the Lakers had a shot at Cousins and passed. Along with giving LeBron another superstar, the idea of Stephenson, Rondo, McGee, and Cousins all in the same locker room gives me chills.  That would be like duplicating JR Smith on the past Cavs teams.
    • It was entertaining reading about all of the possible Kyrie trade rumors, but even more entertaining hearing how he didn’t want LeBron to come back to Cleveland. That dude is nuts (earth is flat) and I am starting to really dislike him.  The fact that you want the spotlight and don’t want the greatest player in the NBA to come JOIN you (and LeBron even passes the ball) is ridiculous.
    • The fact that Donte Exum just got a 3 year, $33 million dollar payday is this year’s example of how overinflated NBA salaries really are. Brook Lopez has averaged 18 pts for his career and just got pennies on the dollar, and Donte Exum averaged under 9 points LAST YEAR.
    • KD signed with the Warriors…ugghhh, but expected. We were ready for it.  It is still better than KD joining up with LeBron now.
    • I LOVE Mark Cuban and LOVE how he hates “rebuilding.” He could get more young talent and let Dirk ride into the sunset, but instead gets a rebounding menace who turned him down unprofessionally years ago in DeAndre Jordan.  Remember this.  Mark Cuban is abrasive sometimes and almost personal and probably wouldn’t be a great poker player, but he is smart enough to let bygones be bygones on this one.  I personally always root for the Mavs.
    • Jimmy Butler is being shopped, and it must take a HECK of a lot of hatred to dislike your running mate, who is really, really good and young, and want out on an upcoming team.
    • I hope Pels fans aren’t expecting Julius Randle to REPLACE Anthony Davis’s ridiculous stats.
    • JJ Redick gets another year on the Sixers bandwagon and watch those kids BALL. Just shoot it, JJ, and attempt to the best of your ability to guard players one on one.
    • I feel like the Jazz have had about 4 attempts to let Favors go, so if he doesn’t pan out, they have no one to blame but themselves.
    • I love the pickup of Nerlens Noel by the Thunder. My closet basketball team is either going to be the Bucks or the Thunder.
    • I am glad the Rockets know that they were literally Chris Paul’s hamstring away from beating the Evil Empire. Good contract signing by getting him long term.
    • I am surprised that more people are not talking about the Rockets losing Trevor Ariza. In a day when the best team has four perimeter players that need guarded on switches, I think he is a BIG loss.  On the flip side, I have NO idea how he thought jumping off that bandwagon was a good idea.
    • I am not watching NBA Summer League, but I assume Robert Williams has at least made the travel logistics for a few games work?
    • This Kawhi thing is the weirdest thing since Teo’s imaginary girlfriend. I don’t get it, don’t understand it, wouldn’t have predicted this, and need more info ASAP.
    • Modify my Donta Exum comment. Zach LaVine getting $20 million a year is just as bad.  Basically, I don’t see the kid in practice, but they are literally paying him another additional $8 million a year on hope and potential.
    • By the way, if by some weird way Jerebko starts getting good for the Warriors, remember that the JAZZ gave him away.
    • And the Timothy Mozgov future trivia question just keeps getting better, as he is now on a new team being overpaid.
  • I noticed that in soccer box score that they call decisions by penalty kick “pens.” I don’t like this.  Sounds wrong.  Sounds like forced jargon when an acronym would do just fine.  Just throw a “PK” on the end and call it a day.

POP CULTURE/ THE FILLERBUSTER:

  • Rafting was good. It is a luxury that us people in Colorado have right down the road.  Water was lower, meaning less speed.  But, that also means sometimes a little more crazy with more rocks.  We lost the person behind me in the raft temporarily, and considering the force I had to use to stay in the boat, I didn’t make fun of her.  Topped out with a couple of Class 4’s.  My last two trips have been great with a smaller rafting company, Monumental Expeditions, and I recommend them.
  • We checked out the Royal Gorge suspension bridge. Considering the only time I ever got close to it before this trip was when I made a run solo down there in the early 2000’s to bungee jump off of it.  Unfortunately, the wind was too high the day I was down there, and I missed out as it was closed that day.  They now have shut it down permanently.    Anyway, kind of fun when the bridge actually moves underneath you above the gorge.
  • Need a place to stay in Canon City to save some bucks and be in prime location? Parkview Inn was definitely economical in presentation, but had the basics, had a cold room, was clean, had good shower pressure, and was right across the street from the train entrance if you plan on doing that.  Plus, you are two blocks from two bars that look like they THINK they are expecting a lot of people, but your wait on drinks will be zero most likely.
  • If you do the train, do the Murder Mystery thing. It was not as cheesy as I expected, and well presented.  Now, of course, I am pretty sure they can pick anyone they want as the killer after they get the answers from the tables, but that is neither here nor there.  It was fun, and the Frank Sinatra, Clark Gable, Mae West, Lucille Ball, and Jack Nicholson look-a-likes were spot on.
  • Oh, but don’t on the train unless you find a DEAL. I can’t believe people pay that amount full price.  Not dissing it, but I guess I loved it so much because it was FREE for me.
  • It is like food. Food is great.  Free food is magical.
  • We ate at the Waffle Wagon after driving by the largest rocking chair in the world…or United States…or Colorado…something.
  • LoHi Steakhouse is perfect for PassBook Denver. Good enough to eat a steak at and enjoy it.  But, not legendary enough where you really FEEL like paying the $25 per steak.
  • I truly miss the green Lime Scooters that were outlawed recently and only on the streets briefly. I got a night with the brand, and MISS them with my new house being just far enough away to not feel like walking, but too close to confidently take an Uber.  But, I DO understand how a fast moving transportation open air no helmet item IS being reviewed further.
  • By the way, I should say Uber OR Lyft. I was all Uber, but their surging is getting me frustrated.  I now check Lyft first.  I recommend you do the same.  Change your paradigm.
  • When thinking about monopolies. Sometimes I think about Rotten Tomatoes. I feel like I was last to know they existed, but can’t IMAGINE my wife and I agreeing to a movie without checking that site and nothing else before our viewing.  I have no idea what other sites offer ratings as a competition.
  • We needed a rug and I figured there was a need (which worked conveniently since my wife was craving Olive Garden breadsticks) for Hobby Lobby. I have decided Hobby Lobby and Netflix are in lock step.  In both, you don’t know exactly the best method of searching for something, you see the same movies and shows in multiple places and it is confusing, you are curious about everything, and you are actually kind of glad during some down time if you walk out with nothing.  Big accomplishment.  My wife doesn’t let me stray when we go in there.  I think she is afraid I might buy the useless Roman pillars in the furniture section.
  • Death of Stalin was good, but not good enough to deserve my blog theme.
  • Annihilation was not great in my opinion, which I know disagrees with most of the population, but I didn’t hate it enough to deserve the blog theme. Visuals were stellar though.
  • While down south, we went to a Jimmy Johns, and just wanted to be there when a singular person came in and ordered the $19 fast food sandwich, The Gargantuan. A $20 fast food ANYTHING astounds me.
  • Rockies game was fun. I bet on it so I would want to pay attention, but that didn’t work out, in the best way possible.  They won 8-1 and it was never really in question.  Baseball games always get me thinking about what my walkout song would be.  Here I Go Again or something by Dr. Dre I think.
  • I don’t think I would even know that White Claw existed at all if my wife didn’t buy it all the time. But, if they become truly mainstream, I got a feeling they owe her some kickback, as all of her friends are now drinking it too.  Paying it Forward.
  • Went to my buddy, Vince’s, birthday party. Regular reader, stellar salesperson, stellar friend, ex-Nugs tryout invitee, and great dude.  And I might have gotten within $200k of the value of the place of the party.  Kind of like movie star-ish, and I have to come home and say BUT I HAVE A LAWN!!
  • Wish I had time to include pics these days in this thing. Maybe I will put them in a dropdown at some point in the future.  But anyway, if you are in Colorado and haven’t been to the Cheyenne Zoo, you need to go.  Definitely like Red Rocks in the way that DON’T plan on going there without thinking you are climbing some Colorado hills (it is literally ON a mountain side), but it is original, cool, cozy, and has the giraffe feeding exhibit which never gets old.
  • I still don’t understand how both Lindsey AND I have come home to find the other person with any of the Hunger Games on in the background. It is like a house go to.
  • I recommend the Passbook option for Corner Office in downtown Denver. I would never pay full price for their food, but their discount is ANYTHING on the menu, so you can get your $20-40 entrée for free.
  • Anyone else find it odd that we have technology that is CRAZY these days, but yet fireworks still have the same sound when released, same pop when exploding, and kind of have looked the same all of my life?
  • When finding new workout songs, I then proceed from the Octane playlist of the week to other songs by those chosen bands. I found a gem.  Moving on, by Asking Alexandria (which I found when selecting Alone in a Room as a new workout song), is the right mix of Buckcherry, 80’s rock, and guitar brilliance.  I am not sad these days, but I just like the song.  But, if you ARE depressed these days from a relationship and want to jam out to an excellent song while healing, you should take a listen (but you should take a listen ANYWAY).    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9lYwVm1NDg
  • I am noticing since becoming a home owner that I am THIS close to finding out via actually watching the weather when it is going to rain so to mow the freaking lawn.
  • I lost the Masters lottery and so did all of my immediate friends. Therefore, I guess I will have to wear the same Masters vest for at least 18 months before picking up something new.  Sorry, co-workers and friends.
  • Book of Mormon was good. I mean great.  Well, let’s do it this way.  I hate musicals.  But, if I get under that umbrella and am asked to rank my favorite musicals ever, I would say that it comes in at #1 easily.  Raunchy, South Park-ish (obviously), and has enough laughter moments to get keep the musical haters in somewhat of a likable state.  Oh, and if do the lottery for any Opera House or Buell Theater, I did NOT know that if you lose the lottery, you can still run to the line and buy tickets for $45.  Book of Mormon was a steal at $45 per.  It was the last weekend of the show, so I can’t exactly tell you to run and see it.  You missed the chance.  But, know the music is good, the jokes are great, and the whole plot of sending a funny religion to Uganda on a mission was gray area galore and funny as hell.
  • In the picture, the dude on the right just MADE the show.  Well, not the same dude as in Denver, but they must rotate in hilarious big short dudes.
  • And, since we head to Orlando next week, it made it even funnier (have to see it to understand joke).
  • We played some Meme game that was like Card of Humanity at a pool party the other day. It is amazing and you should find this gem.  I am not Googling the name of it.  But, you show a meme, have one judge and the rest are entrants, and the judge picks the most applicable or funny one.  You have to use the cards, but know the person also.  Kind of like poker with a lot less skill.
  • I find it intriguing to watch people before and after holidays at work. Why?  Because when there is less to do, you find out who the real workers are.  My rule is this.  I am in sales, and until I own 100% of the casinos with my product (which is ridiculous), I always have something to do, anytime, anywhere.  Saddle up, people.  There is always someone to call.
  • I fell in love with Pop Evil as a band before this new release. Waking the Lions I am starting to realize is the only song on it I really like.
  • MoviePass is brilliant as my regular readers know from my past blogs. Now, they are introducing Peak Pricing, which basically is the Uber surge fee for movies.  Unknown, unpredictable, and not totally cool.  We can’t have too many unknowns.
  • I now understand soccer betting, although bettors get NO fun in the extra time. All bets are done at the end of regulation.  So, it is unfortunate that I can’t experience the high stress throughout extra time like I can during regulation time.
  • The Cavs, horse racing, and believing in the Golden Knights were my downward summer finish to the basketball and hockey betting season. Soccer has helped me fight back almost to even, so I can’t hate it THAT much.  Objective:  go into college football and not reload.
  • My new workout is mostly Herschel Walker pushup plan based presently. But, I now have some bulletin board material.  At the pool party the other day, someone said I look really good “for my age.”    Objective:  Have them stop the sentence BEFORE those words by how obvious of shape I am in.  I will shave my head if I have to if the gray hairs are the problem.  For your age…
  • I am convinced I am on a subconscious mission to have enough dryfits for about two weeks of wearing. I love them in heat.  People ask me if I am hot, but the sun is off my skin, and the material is simply magically light.
  • Phase 1 of garage cleanup now complete after our move. I can access everything and see the floor.  Phase 2 is to sweep, dust, and make more long term hang-out-able.  Phase 3 is determining where the heavy bag, speed bag, TRX, weight bench, and pullup bar go.
  • My wife is brunch queen, so I get to experience a lot of cool brunch places. My new favorite place?  Bacon Social House in the Highlands.  LOVE the atmosphere and layout, and the bacon flight (yes, FLIGHT) and chicken and waffles (with bacon) were incredible.
  • Sometimes you go to IT with your device and the device doesn’t show as broken. Great when I call Verizon to complain about my phone service and they can’t HEAR me.
  • I went to Amazon, so no worries, but 748th sign that cargo shorts are NOT in style anymore. I went to Old Navy and they didn’t carry ONE pair.  Very sad for me.  I love that store.  Thank you, Amazon.  Two in the mail.  Can’t have enough cargo shorts.  So practical, so stylish, so perfect.
  • I think I am starting to like this song too. This band remind me of a seventies rock, Black Crow, and new hip band sound all in one.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9GTEsNf_GU
  • And it is about bees and I still like it, which is odd for my absolute fear of bees, wasps, and hornets.
  • On that note, one other item. We went on Skyline Drive in Canon City, and it is basically a mini version of the Estes Park drive where one wrong turn has you down the mountain (no rails).  Anyway, the only close call was when I decided to enjoy nature and roll down the windows.  A bee flew in.  Luckily, I stepped on it before driving over the side of the mountain.  Therefore, my wife and I are still alive and kicking.  Almost as scary when I drove to about 2 feet of the guard rail with slammed brakes when a bee flew in my Jeep on my way to Central City.  That was a close one.

FAVORITE TWEET OF THE WEEK:

NEXT BLOG PLAN:

I travel for a week as of next Saturday, so barring some time on the plane where my wife sleeps, I will probably go blog free.  Look for me to post one before leaving Saturday morning, and then will be silent until a day or two after my return the following weekend (once again, barring that same situation in the air on the way back).  I go to Disney for two days, Vero Beach for two plus days to see my parents, and then Key West and South Beach for the rest of the trip.

That’s it for today.  Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed.  Will I blog again?  That is a CLOWN question, bro.  Peace.

If you care, here is what I tossed back in the pond.
