Nothing beats Camping by the water, taking an evening swim and enjoying the sunset sipping a glass of wine in the wild.  In the morning you can leap out of your tent again and enjoy the sunset as you swim feeling vitalized for the day. Swimming in the wild is all about good health and making memorable life experiences. Listed below is a list of five hotspots of wild camping and swimming in the UK.

1. Achmelvich Beach, Scotland

This beach is rated among the wildest scenery in the UK. It offers fabulous sea swimming along the Assynt coastline over the soft white sands. Achmelvich is a very romantic camping site with the sand and sky ready to absorb you with a very amazing sunset view.

2. Grantchester Meadows, Cambridgeshire

Enjoy a length of the River Cam that has changed little since Edwardian times.Creative legendary minds like the Rupert Brooke and Virginia Woolf gathered to camp and swim naked in this river. Anywhere along the meadows is good for swimming especially on the outer sides of the bends where the river deepens.

3. Staverton, River Dart, Devon

You will find campsites and touring grounds nearby Staverton Mill on the River Dart. This is a fantastic place to go for camping with the hills of South Hams cradling this moor-fed river.The water is beautifully clean and incredible golden light. You have to be aware of the currents but there are plenty of shallow and deeper pools that provide safe swimming.You can drive to Staverton from your campsite or catch a train or even cycle to make the fun out of it.

4. Wastdale Camping

Considering the sheer number of beautiful bodies of water calling out to be tested, swimming in the Lake District is, unsurprisingly big news. Wastwater is a quartz-bedded lake, nearly 5km long and over 600 meters wide and the deepest lake in England at 79 meters, so the water isn’t warm but it is fantastically clear. The lake is set in the Lake District’s stunning Wasdale Valley, surrounded by some of the highest peaks in England, often reflected in the water below. These Lake District camping sites will place you within 5 miles of Wastwater.Nearby parking makes access straightforward and the size of the lake ensures that seclusion can easily be achieved. Walking around the lake itself is extremely breath-taking.

5. Goldiggins quarry, Bodmin Moor, CornwallHere you will find campsites near Goldiggins Quarry on Bodmin Moor.It is a stretch of wilderness etched with the history of a prehistoric past that really should be visited. A secret, crystal clear, spring-fed quarry lake, out on the open moors but sheltered in a grassy bowl in the landscape covered with wildflowers in summer, this is a great spot for wild open air water swimming, picnics and fun. With flat ledges for jumping, plenty of grass for drying off and sun-soaking and high rocks for tombstoning you should be cautious of the submerged object. The mile walk to this Wild Swimming spot is worth doing anyway.
