Running Events in Dublin this May

Summer is fast approaching and the capital has plenty of sports events to keep you on your toes this May. We’ve compiled a list of some of the top Running Events in Dublin this month.

Go on the Run in Dublin this May

Dublin Midnight Run

This May 27th sees the Kenco Midnight 5k run take place. Starting at East Point at midnight and heading for Clontarf the night promises to be great fun regardless of your Running level. A 90s themed Neon disco will take place before the Race starts to get runners pumped before the 5km begins. Those struggling to keep their eyes open will benefit from the free coffee at the event, supplied by sponsors Kenco .Tickets are 19 and you can register to join 2000 others in the race here.

Dublin Staff Relay

The 19th of may brings with it the return of the Dublin Staff Relay. The race, starting at 18.00 in Dublin city’s Phoenix Park, is a team based event and promises camraderie, teamwork , and entertainment. Those looking for an alternative work night out are perfectly suited to the event, which is expected to attract up to 5000 participants. Each of the 5 members on each team will complete the 5km circuit and you can register a team here

Wings for Life Run

Dun Laoghaire hosts this year Wings for Life Run on the 8th of May. It’s €30 to register and all funds go towards spinal cord research. The Wings for Life World run will be taking place simultaneously in 34 locations across the globe, with the Dublin leg kicking off at midday. The race route takes in Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey, Killiney, Bray, and Greystones, and finally Brittas Bay. There is no set distance for runners, instead participants are invited to run until overtaken by the ‘Catcher Car’, with the last remaining male and female runners being declared the winners. The event should be great fun. Refreshments will be provided every 5k, return tickets will be available from all DART stations along the way for those who have run to their limit and need a way back, and a shuttle bus will also run back to the start point. Terenure 5 Mile

Another one of the many running events in Dublin this month Takes Place on the 15th of May as The Terenure 5 Mile invites you to run, jog, walk, or crawl along the races route. There’s plenty on offer for running enthusiasts with free refreshments, changing facilities and showers, chip timing, and race pacers from 30 – 50 minutes. The run is in aid of ISCC and will be run on a very flat route, meaning that its suitable for runners of all abilities. It’s 20 to enter and you can register and find out more here.

Patrick Pearse 5km

This year marks the centenary of the 1916 rising and commemorative events have been taking place all over the city and country. One such event will be the Patrick Pearse 5km. The run takes place around St. Enda’s park in Rathfarnham and all proceeds go towards the St Teresa Obera Support Fund, and the race takes place on the 8th of May at 9:15. Participants will receive a special commemorative medal to mark the event. Register or Donate here
