Nicky Weaver in for Fulham?

Taken from ManchesterOnline.co.uk

NICKY Weaver could make his first senior start for Manchester City since August 2003 in Saturday's Premiership encounter with Fulham.

First-choice goalkeeper David James is doubtful for the Eastlands encounter with a stiff back, so Weaver is standing by to make an emotional re-appearance after a nightmare three injury-plagued seasons which looked set to claim his career.

Weaver, who was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday earlier this season, eventually underwent revolutionary knee cartilage transplant surgery in the United States and is due to sign a new one-year contract with City over the next few days.

The 27-year-old's last start for City was in the UEFA Cup qualifier with Total Network Solutions in August 2003. He appeared as a substitute against Middlesbrough last season in the Premiership.

Personally I feel that it would be great to see weaver back. The lad is a good goalkeeper, and was very promising for us under Joe Royle. Lets hope he plays well. Whatever happens, the chant of 'Weaver, Weaver, Weaver' will sure to reverbate around COMS as it did vs Middlesbrough in the final game of last season.
