Vanderbilt & Louisville Become Initial Diamond Kinetics’ Premier Collegiate Partners

PITTSBURGH (2 min read) – Diamond Kinetics is proud to introduce the University of Louisville and Vanderbilt University baseball teams as the initial ‘Premier Collegiate Partners’ powered by SwingTracker.

As two of the most prestigious programs in college baseball today, Louisville and Vanderbilt have combined for 921 wins and 6 College World Series appearances over the last ten seasons, with the Commodores taking home the CWS title in 2014.

With the 2017 season on the horizon, both schools will be using the latest in cutting-edge sensor technology from Diamond Kinetics, in addition to added technology from DK partners Axon & HitTrax.

“Working with all three is complex data made simple and easy to use,” said University of Louisville head coach and 2015 & 2016 ACC Coach of the Year Dan McDonnell. “It’s working cognitive and physical skills to be a great hitter. These three resources will help us get one step closer to being the scariest lineup in the country and help us win a National Championship.”

Heading into 2017 the Cardinals, who rank 5th nationally in wins (456) from 2007-16, are the No. 11 team in the most recent Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll. According to Louisville sports information, the Cardinals return a trio of All-Americans and 19 total letterwinners from last year’s team, which won its second straight ACC Atlantic Division championship, advanced to its fourth straight NCAA Super Regional and reached the 50-win plateau for the fourth time in school history.

Vanderbilt enters the new year as the No. 6 ranked team in the Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll, after going into last season as the only team in the nation with three consecutive 50-win seasons (156-54) and finishing the 2015 season in the College World Series finals as the National Runner-Up.

The ‘Dores are led by head coach Tim Corbin, whose overall record of 610-290 (.678) is second all-time in terms of wins at Vanderbilt and whose streak of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances is the longest streak in the mighty Southeastern Conference.

Vandy’s embrace of the newest, cutting-edge training tools in baseball are not surprising given the school’s pedigree as the most-winningest team in college baseball over the past seven seasons with a combined 334 wins.

“”Through our partnership with Diamond Kinetics our players are able to receive the real-time feedback in the cage that would typically occur on the field,” said Corbin. “We spend a lot of time teaching our hitters about ball flight and what works best for their skill set.  SwingTracker provides us with valuable metrics and 3D tools to provide another great way of teaching this.”
