According to local news reports throughout Baja California, the Red Alert response to the pandemic has been continued through April, 2021. Local newspapers have reported numerous pandemic arrests of local citizens. Many tourists have flaunted the rules, locals are now pushing for more criminal charges against tourists that flaunt the pandemic laws and their enforcement.

The use of masks in Baja California is mandatory, in an attempt to reduce the number of positive cases.

In La Paz, the boardwalk is closed to pedestrians until the number of infections decreases. However, a young man managed to enter and do some jogging. When a female police officer tried to stop him he shoved her off. Back-up was called and he was arrested for 24 hours, adding a $400 USD fine.

Although the number of positive cases has not increased dramatically in Los Cabos in Southern Baja, people’s attitude seems to have relaxed and the city wants to control it before it gets out of control.

Effective immediately, live music that creates large crowds is banned. The Viva La Plaza Friday event at Cabo San Lucas’ downtown park is closed.

Live music has never been prohibited in the history of the Los Cabos municipality. The La Plaza of Los Cabos has been a traditional open environment for the arts and music since the founding of the Republic of Mexico, State and City of Cabo.

The central plaza of Cabo San Lucas, has been an important focus for social gatherings of visitors and locals alike, for many generations.

The San Jose Art Garden (Jardin del Arte) in the main plaza is also closed.

Stores now heavily control attendances

Kids under 15 are not be allowed in local stores.

The elderly will be allowed in stores if they have no one to shop for them and access to major supermarkets like Costco, La Comer, Walmart, Chedraui, Soriana and similar establishments have allowed only one person per shopping cart.
