Gary Neville hailed Sadio Mane’s “wonderful finish” in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 win against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday evening.
The Senegal international was criticised for a wasteful performance in Liverpool FC’s 1-0 win against Serie A side Napoli on Tuesday night to book their place in the Champions League last-16 draw.
Mane made amends in the 24th minute when the African forward controlled Fabinho’s lofted pass before he placed a finish past David De Gea to break the deadlock.
Manchester United scored against the run of play when Liverpool FC goalkeeper Alisson Becker made a rare handling error to allow Jesse Lingard to equalise ahead of half-time.
Jurgen Klopp brought on Xherdan Shaqiri in the second half as Manchester United threatened to frustrate the Premier League leaders.
But the Switzerland international scored two deflected goals to secure three points for Liverpool FC and hoist the Reds to the top of the Premier League Table.
Former Manchester United defender Neville lavished praise on Mane for his excellent opening goal in Sunday evening’s 3-1 win.
“Liverpool were far better in the first 25 minutes,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“It’s a wonderful pass from Fabinho and it’s a difficult run [from Mane] to mark. There can be no room for error with the pass and it was wonderful. It was a wonderful finish from Sadio Mane.”
Mane has scored seven goals in 15 games in the Premier League this season to continue his excellent start to the campaign.
Liverpool FC are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and a point ahead of Manchester City.
