Ian Wright warns Eden Hazard’s form a problem for Chelsea FC

Ian Wright believes Eden Hazard’s current form will give Chelsea FC a problem next summer.

The Belgium international has hit the ground running under Italian head coach Maurizio Sarri, who took over the reins in the summer.

Hazard has scored seven times in eight games in the Premier League to make his best-ever start to a domestic campaign at the west London side.

The 27-year-old has been regularly linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid over the past few seasons, particularly during Zinedine Zidane’s stint in charge.

The France legend has since stood down as manager, but Real Madrid are still likely to be linked with Hazard once again after Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Serie A giants Juventus.

Hazard is set to have 12 months remaining on his current deal at Chelsea FC when the current campaign comes to an end.

The Blues could opt to sell Hazard to ensure a return for their star player rather than lose Hazard for nothing at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Hazard’s current form will continue to attract interest from Champions League holders Real Madrid.

“Hazard has a decision to make now,” Wright told Sky Sports.

“He is playing the kind of football where Real Madrid are looking. He is being more consistent. He was one of the best players in the World Cup. With a team like Real Madrid interested, it is going to give you a problem.

“He isn’t slagging Chelsea off. He is torn.”

Hazard moved to Chelsea FC in a big money deal from Ligue 1 side Lille in the 2012 summer transfer window following an impressive stint at the French side.

The Belgian star has won two Premier League titles, the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup during his spell at Stamford Bridge.

The 2015 PFA player of the year scored 14 times during his first title success under Jose Mourinho in 2014-15, before the Belgian forward netted 16 goals in Chelsea FC’s Premier League winning-campaign under Antonio Conte in 2016-17.

Chelsea FC are in second place in the Premier League table ahead of their clash against eighth-placed Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 20 October.
