Paul Merson has warned Tottenham Hotspur that if they drop points at Watford they would effectively be throwing away their massive result at Manchester United last Monday.
Goals from Harry Kane and Lucas Moura (2) saw Tottenham put on a dazzling second-half display to run out 3-0 winners at Old Trafford.
However, they meet a team level on nine points at the top of the Premier League table, Watford, at Vicarage Road on Sunday, and Merson has expressed their need to back up their famous win with another three points.

He told Sky Sports: “Spurs have to cement what they did on Monday at Old Trafford.
“You can’t go to Manchester United and win and then drop points, or even lose, at Watford.
“It’ll be a tough game for Spurs, but they normally do well there and have ripped them to shreds in the past.”
As usual Watford were one of many pundits’ sides to go down this season, but once again the Hornets defied the odds and collected maximum points in their best ever start to a top-flight season.
Merson said: “Watford have started well, they were my team to go down, but they’ve got virtually a quarter of the points they need already and we’re three weeks into the season.
“They’ve got a bit more about them than Huddersfield, who started well and stayed up last season.
“They’ve got players who can do something in a game, like Roberto Pereyra and Troy Deeney.”
Many doubters assumed Spurs would struggle this season with many players playing deep into the latter stages of the World Cup, and the ever-changing situation with their new stadium.
However, Spurs look no less than the side they have been in previous years, with Monday’s win the highpoint so far after wins against Newcastle and Fulham.
As ever in football though, good results can breed complacency, and Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be aware that they face a well-organised and confident Watford side who relish their underdog status.
