Pat Nevin has warned Maurizio Sarri that Chelsea FC summer signing Jorginho isn’t a good defender.
The Blues signed the Italy international in a £57m deal from Serie A runners up Napoli in the summer transfer window.
Jorginho struggled during a 2-0 loss to defending Premier League champions in the Community Shield.
The Brazilian-born star scored on his Premier League debut in a 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town earlier this month.
Jorginho was exposed for his lack of a defensive mindset in a 3-2 loss to Arsenal in their first home fixture of the campaign.
Former Chelsea FC star Nevin doesn’t believe Chelsea FC can rely on Jorginho to protect their defence.
“He doesn’t really defend,” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“He is fabulous on the ball. He is not a defensive player. Hence why Arsenal got all those chances. “
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
The Blues were 1-0 winners over Manchester United in the FA Cup final to win their second trophy in successive seasons under Antonio Conte.
The west London outfit signed veteran English goalkeeper Rob Green, Real Madrid star Mateo Kovavic and Atheltic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa.
