Mark Lawrenson predicts where Liverpool FC, Man City will finish

Mark Lawrenson is confident Liverpool FC will run Manchester City close in the title race.

The Reds enjoyed a positive summer transfer window after Jurgen Klopp addressed some areas of weakness.

Liverpool FC bolstered their midfield with the addition of AS Monaco star Fabinho in a £39m deal.

Naby Keita completed a £48m switch to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig from Liverpool FC after agreeing a fee in 2017.

Liverpool FC managed to land Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri in a £13.5m deal amid interest from Manchester United.

The Reds signed Brazil number one Alisson Becker in a £67m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma back in August.

Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson believes the Reds will push defending champions Manchester City in the title race.

“Liverpool will be really close to Manchester City,” Lawrenson told Newstalk. “They will finish second at least.”

Liverpool FC were 4-0 winners against West Ham United in their season opener at Anfield before a 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

The Merseyside outfit hoisted themselves above Manchester City thanks to a 1-0 win against Brighton on Saturday evening after the Citizens drew 1-1 with Wolves.

The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
