Duncan Castles tips Chelsea FC turn to 36-year-old instead of Kasper Schmeichel

Chelsea FC will turn to Petr Cech after giving up on Kasper Schmeichel this summer, reporter Duncan Castles has claimed.

The Blues risk losing Belgium international Thibaut Courtois in the current transfer window given his uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

Courtois has less than 12 months left to run on his current deal at Chelsea FC and could leave for nothing next summer.

The 27-year-old is keen on a return to Madrid following a three year loan spell at Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2014.

Chelsea FC were thought to be keen on Leicester’s Premier League winner Schmeichel in the current transfer window.

The Blues have also been linked with a swoop to re-sign club legend Petr Cech from Arsenal after his £11m move to north London in 2015.

Sunday Times reporter Castles believes Chelsea FC will pursue Cech given Leicsster’s reluctance to sell.

“I am told Leicester are refusing any offer for Schmeichel,” Castles told the Transfer Window podcast.

“Chelsea will turn look to Cech as an even cheaper replacement.”

Chelsea FC finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a place in the Champions League this term.

The Blues were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May.
