Michael Owen is tipping Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to play out a draw in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash on Wednesday night.
The two European heavyweights are set to go head to head in Germany in the first leg of their crunch last four clash as they look to set up a final meeting with either Liverpool FC or AS Roma next month.
Real Madrid were in impressive form as they managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against Juventus to book their place in the semi-finals.
Former Liverpool FC star Owen feels that the game is going to be a close affair and that the two sides are likely to share the spoils ahead of the return leg at the Bernabeu next week.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “These two great clubs have played 24 times previously in European competition with nothing between them – 11 wins each and two draws although Real Madrid have held the upper hand in recent years winning the last five.
“I cannot split the sides’ midweek, but hope and expect my old side to find the back of the Bayern net.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in his last 11 Champions League games, which seems almost inconceivable such is the quality of the opposition.”
The Whites have won on their last two visits to the Allianz Arena (4-0 in the 2014 semi-final and 2-1 last year’s quarterfinal) and on both occasions the Spanish giants have gone on to lift the Trophy.
Real Madrid are currently in third place in the La Liga table as they bid to try and become the first team to lift the Champions League trophy for the third season in a row.
