Pat Nevin believes Romelu Lukaku is capable of blossoming into a world-class striker at Manchester United.
The Belgium international moved to Manchester United in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The Red Devils forward hit the ground running with 10 goals in his opening nine games in all competitions in the current campaign.
Lukaku required 29 games to score his next 10 goals in a Manchester United shirt following a difficult spell for the summer signing.
The 24-year-old produced one of his best performances since his move to the Red Devils following Lukaku’s goal and assist in a 2-1 win over Chelsea FC at Old Trafford in the Premier League last month.
Lukaku scored Manchester United’s second goal in a stunning 3-2 comeback win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend.
The Belgian forward is still one of the top goal-scorers in the Premier League following a return of 14 goals in the current campaign.
Former Chelsea FC winger Nevin is confident Lukaku can become a world-class striker.
“He can be the best striker in the world,” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“There’s no doubt about it. He has the physique, he is a natural goal-scorer. We saw his pace [against Chelsea].”
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and two points ahead of Liverpool FC ahead of their meeting at Old Trafford on Saturday.
