Emmanuel Petit has warned Alexandre Lacazette that he must step his game up at Arsenal or risk being sold in the summer transfer window.
The France international signed for the north London club from Lyon in the summer transfer window last year in a then club-record deal.
The 26-year-old has made a decent start to life at The Emirates, scoring nine goals and making three assists in the Premier League so far this season.
However, he is now facing increased competition for a place in the first team at The Emirates after the Gunners signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window.
Indeed, Lacazette was left on the bench for the 5-1 win over Everton at The Emirates last weekend in the Premier League.
And former Arsenal star Petit has warned Lacazette that he must step his game up at The Emirates if he wants to prove that he has a future at the club ahead of this weekend’s north London derby.
Petit is quoted as saying by Metro: “Lacazette is under massive pressure. He needs to improve or face the exit this summer.
“Aubameyang’s signing tells me it might already be too late. Arsene Wenger’s belief in Lacazette has gone.
“After six months his statistics are not exactly tremendous. Auba is exactly the man Arsenal need.”
Lacazette will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners take on bitter local rivals Spurs at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime.
The north London side are currently sixth in the Premier League table as they bid to try and get back into the top four this season.
