Wayne Rooney predicts where Liverpool FC, Man United will finish this season

Wayne Rooney is backing Liverpool FC and Manchester United to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.

The Red Devils were 2-0 winners against Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford last weekend to bounce back from the disappointment of a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley last weekend.

Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League Table and five points ahead of third-placed Liverpool FC in the race to finish in the runners-up spot behind runaway leaders Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s side missed out on the chance to put daylight between themselves and fifth-placed Tottenham following a 2-2 draw with Spurs at Anfield last weekend.

Liverpool FC are two points clear of the north London side, with Chelsea FC sandwiched between the Reds and Spurs in fourth spot.

Former Manchester United striker Rooney is backing the Red Devils to finish in the top four and is also tipping Liverpool FC to secure a Champions League qualifying spot.

“You’d think so [that Manchester United will finish in the top four],” Rooney told Sky Sports.

“It’s tight, Tottenham have come into it, Liverpool. So it is going to be tight, two of those big six teams are going to miss out.

“I just think Chelsea, Man City, I fancy Liverpool and Man United.”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a return to the Champions League following a two-season absence in Klopp’s first full season in charge.

The Reds will take on Manchester United on Saturday 10 March.
