Mark Lawrenson is backing Liverpool FC to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.

The Reds looked to be heading towards a crucial three points on Sunday but ended up conceding a late equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur to draw 2-2 at Anfield.

Still, the result left Liverpool FC in third place in the Premier League table and looking in a good position to secure Champions League qualification for the second season running under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

And although the Reds clearly still have some improving to do in terms of their defending, Lawrenson appears to still be backing the Merseyside outfit to finish in the top four.

Lawrenson is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “Yeah, very much Liverpool in it [the top four].

“Just the way they play, I’m afraid unless they score a second goal against the top clubs because of the pressing game, they run out of energy and steam as you saw yesterday and end up getting dominated by the opposition.

“I think the thing with Liverpool is they will win a lot of their games.

“They’ve obviously had some bizarre results throughout the course of the season as you’ve seen but they will win a lot of games which I think will be the key.”

Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action next weekend when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s.

The Merseyside outfit will also look to try and progress through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League later this month when they take on FC Porto in the last 16.

Liverpool FC are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the summer transfer window presents Klopp with an opportunity to further bolster his squad.
