Jamie Carragher warns Alexandre Lacazette about new Arsenal signing

Jamie Carragher has warned Alexandre Lacazette that he could be immediately forced out of the Arsenal team by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners completed the signing of the Gabon striker for a club-record £56m transfer fee last week as Arsene Wenger moved to further bolster his attacking options at The Emirates.

The move to sign the 28-year-old came just a few months after Arsenal broke their transfer record to sign Lacazette from Lyon back in July last year.

Lacazette has made a mixed start to life at the north London club, scoring nine goals and making three assists in 25 Premier League games so far this season.

However, former Liverpool FC star Carragher has admitted that he cannot see how both Aubameyang and Lacazette will be able to play in the same team because their styles are so similar.

Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports, Carragher said: “I can’t help thinking that with Aubameyang coming in, there is no way he can form a partnership with Lacazette at all.

“They both look like penalty-box strikers.”

Aubameyang will be hoping to make his Premier League debut for the Gunners when they host Everton in the top flight at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners head into the game looking to get back to winning ways after their 3-1 loss to Swansea in the Premier League in midweek.
