Jose Mourinho doesn’t want Man United star to leave this summer

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is keen for Manchester United to keep hold of Marouane Fellaini beyond the summer transfer window.

The Belgian midfielder’s future has been a source of speculation in recent months because his current contract is due to expire in the summer and he is yet to sign a new deal with the Red Devils.

Mourinho has regularly spoken about his desire to keep Fellaini at the club, but the Belgian has only made three starts in the Premier League so far this season.

It remains to be seen whether Fellaini will indeed sign a new contract at Old Trafford, but it is clear that Mourinho is keen for the 30-year-old to stay at Manchester United beyond the summer.

Speaking at a news conference on Monday afternoon, Mourinho said: “He’s a very important player for me and he’s a great professional who is giving everything he can to help the team.

“There is a desire from myself, the board and the player to stay together and that’s our objective.

“Are we going to reach? Are we going to agree? I don’t know. But what I know is myself, the board and the player we would like to have a happy end.”

Mourinho is currently preparing his Manchester United side for their Premier League clash against Tottenham on Wednesday night.

Alexis Sanchez could make his Premier League debut for the Red Devils on Wednesday following his move to Old Trafford from Arsenal last week.

The Chilean was named as the man of the match as he helped Manchester United claim a thumping 4-0 win over Yeovil Town in the FA Cup on Friday night.
