Gary Neville reacts to Romelu Lukaku’s display in Man United’s 2-2 draw at Leicester

Gary Neville heaped praise on Romelu Lukaku for his strong performance for Manchester United at Leicester on Saturday but felt that he didn’t get the service he deserved.

The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes at the King Power Stadium as the Red Devils let their 2-1 lead slip at the death.

Juan Mata’s two goals had given the Red Devils the lead in the second half, but Harry Maguire ended up earning a point for the hosts when he tapped home in the final minute of stoppage time.

Lukaku has been criticised for some of his performances for Manchester United this season but former Manchester United defender Neville was clearly impressed with what he saw from the Belgian striker on Saturday.

However, Neville also felt that Lukaku’s work-rate was not matched by some of his other team-mates.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “He made the runs today, Lukaku.

“He found his team-mates but they didn’t find him. He deserves better.”

Manchester United’s draw means that the Red Devils are now 13 points behind Manchester City at the half-way stage of the Premier League season.

The Red Devils, who finished sixth last season, will aim to get back to winning ways on Boxing Day when they host Burnley at Old Trafford.
