Granit Xhaka sends clear Arsenal warning to Man City

Granit Xhaka is convinced that Arsenal could still catch Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

The Gunners have endured a stuttering start to the new season, with Arsene Wenger’s men currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and 12 points behind the leaders after 12 games of the campaign.

Arsenal underlined their status as potential title challengers on Saturday when they produced a strong performance to beat bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at The Emirates.

However, the Gunners still remain some way off top spot, and Manchester City do not look like dropping any points any time soon.

Indeed, Pep Guardiola’s men have only dropped two points in 12 games so far this season and are the runaway favourites to win the title this term.

But Swiss midfielder Xhaka seems convinced that the Gunners could still catch Manchester City in the title race, with the hectic festive period in the Premier League looming large.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Xhaka said: “I think in football everything is possible.

“Manchester City, at the moment, are on a very good run, they’re doing very well and others have dropped points – which they haven’t done – but it’s conceivable that they could drop points as well.”

Arsenal return to Europa League action on Thursday night with a trip to Germany to take on Cologne.

The Gunners then switch their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their trip to Burnley in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.
