Matt Le Tissier believes that Manchester United star David De Gea is the best goalkeeper in the world along with Manuel Neuer.
The Spanish shot-stopper has established himself as one of the finest goalkeepers in the Premier League since his arrival at Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid back in 2011.
De Gea has earned his place as Manchester United’s number one between the posts in recent seasons after initially struggling under Sir Alex Ferguson following his move from Spain.
The goalkeeper’s development has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid having come close to signing the Spain international back in the summer of 2015 before the move fell through at the final hour.
Chelsea stopper Thibaut Courtois is also considered to be one of the Premier League’s best, but Le Tissier places De Gea ahead of the Belgian goalkeeper.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Le Tissier said: “Thibaut Courtois is a quality goalkeeper but for me, David de Gea is the best in the Premier League and alongside Manuel Neuer as the best in the world.”
Courtois and De Gea are getting ready to go head to head on Sunday afternoon when Manchester United travel to Chelsea in the Premier League.
The Red Devils head into the game looking to continue their strong start to the new season under Jose Mourinho, with Manchester United currently second and five points behind leaders Manchester City after 10 games.
