Arsenal’s players have lost all respect for Arsene Wenger, according to former midfielder Paul Merson.
The Gunners have endured a difficult start to the new Premier League season under the Frenchman and the north London side were thoroughly outplayed as they were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield in their most recent outing.
Arsenal also lost 1-0 to Stoke City in their second game to leave them in 16th place in the Premier League table after a disastrous start to the new campaign.
The Arsenal team were widely criticised for their failure to perform against Liverpool as they were thrashed by Jurgen Klopp’s side on Merseyside.
And former Arsenal man Merson believes that the Gunners squad have now lost respect for their manager.
Writing in his column for the Daily Star, former Arsenal man Merson said: “Arsenal’s 4-0 thrashing by Liverpool was the worst I have EVER seen under Wenger. It was shambolic, horrendous.
“I think the players have lost all respect for him. But I think the fans are losing all respect as well.
“They are playing for Arsenal and they are turning it into a mockery. They are embarrassing the football club.
“It’s becoming one of football’s also-rans because they are a million miles from winning the league and that’s pathetic.
“I’m disgusted. It’s just an embarrassment from top to bottom. It frustrates me. And it will get worse too.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Bournemouth at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
Gunners fans will be desperately hoping to see the north London side pick up three points as they look to try and get their season back on track.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign under Wenger.
