Gary Neville has praised Jose Mourinho for signing players who fit the profile of a Manchester United player.
The Red Devils were efficient in the summer transfer window after Mourinho wrapped up his deals last month ahead of the start of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof in a £30.7m deal back in June to improve his defensive options ahead of the new season.
The Red Devils managed to hijack Chelsea’s deal to sign Romelu Lukakua after the powerful striker completed a £75m switch to Old Trafford.
Mourinho pulled off a transfer coup after two-time Premier League winner Nemanja Matic made the controversial £40m move to Manchester United from title rivals Chelsea.
Manchester United duo Lukaku and Matic have already had a positive impact in the Premier League as the Red Devils won their opening three Premier League fixtures.
Ex-defender Neville praised Mourinho for recruiting players who have the right profile to succeed at Manchester United.
“What I would say about United is that a couple of seasons ago you could be immensely critical of United’s transfer policy being all over the place,” Neville told Sky Sports News on Friday.
“They were signing players that shouldn’t have been at the club and didn’t fit the profile of a Manchester United player.
“What I’ve seen in this last 12 months is the players that have signed in my mind, Pogba, [Eric] Bailly, Matic, Lukaku, they fit the profile of a United player – the strength, the personality, the character.”
The Red Devils have eased to comfortable victories over West Ham, Swansea City and Leicester City in their opening three Premier League games.
Manchester United will return to Premier League action with a trip to Stoke City next weekend.
