Chelsea signing sends open message to fans

Antonio Rudiger has spoken of his delight at the way in which Chelsea have bounced back from their slow start to the Premier League season.

The Blues suffered a shock 3-2 loss to Burnley in their Premier League opener at at Stamford Bridge last month as they made a stuttering start to the new campaign.

However, they bounced back from that surprise loss by beating Tottenham 2-1 and by securing a 2-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

The 24-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Roma back in July, has played every minute of the Blues’ Premier League campaign so far.

And the Germany international has revealed his delight at the way the Blues have bounced back from their poor start to the season.

Rudiger told Chelsea’s website: “In the first game at home we conceded three goals and we were not happy with this.

“We improved against Tottenham and we were unlucky that Michy Batshuayi scored an own-goal, but he took responsibility, and against Everton, with the clean sheet, everyone is happy. We took the three points and this is very important.

“If you look at the [league] table now it is good. It was a pity we lost the first match but now we did good and won our last two matches and we have to continue after international duty like this, because Everton was a really good game.”

Chelsea return to Premier League action after the international break when they travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City on Saturday 9 September.

Rudiger will be hoping to help Chelsea defend their Premier League title this season and also launch an assault on the Champions League crown.

The Blues will take on Atletico Madrid, Roma and Qarabag in the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition, which gets under way later this month.
