Theo Walcott has sent a heartfelt message to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain following his move to Liverpool.
The 24-year-old completed a £40m move to Liverpool from the Gunners on transfer deadline day to become Jurgen Klopp’s fourth signing of the summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain have signed a long-term deal with Liverpool after the England international reportedly turned down a contract worth £180,000 a week from Arsenal.
The versatile midfielder won the FA Cup three times during his Arsenal career, including their winner in a 2-1 victory over defending champions Chelsea in the Wembley showpiece last term.
Oxlade-Chamberlain scored 20 times in 198 games in all competitions during his seven seasons at the Emirates Stadium.
The Liverpool signing’s former team-mate Walcott has taken to Instagram to send a message to Oxlade-Chamberlain following his controversial move to their title rivals.
Walcott wrote on the photo sharing app:
“What can I say @alexoxchamberlain ……………… You will be missed my friend on & off the field. We have had so many great years together & I wish you all the best in the future.”
Liverpool were 4-0 winners against Arsenal at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge.
Oxlade-Chamberlain made his final Arsenal appearance in the rout at Anfield before he was replaced in the second half with the north London side trailing 3-0.
Liverpool will make the trip to title rivals Manchester City in their next Premier League fixture.
